Anyone Back From Voyager In Mediterranean?

Recommended Posts

We just got back from the May 27th sailing. I don't have alot of time right now to do a full report, but here it is in a nutshell: Boarding was great; luggage taken by porters and we walked right to the check in desk. The first night's dining was hell -- we were told by the cruise line on an email that the 2nd seating was at 8 PM. It was at 9:15!!! We all waited in the hall while the early seating passengers leisurely finished dinner after arriving late for it, and didn't get to our table, let alone served, until after 10 PM!!! NO one was very happy. No apologies were extended. Food was mediocre, service was definitely not 5 star. The food in the dining room got better as the week went on, but the food in the Windjammer got worse! Service improved only after a few sharp words to the head waiter by one of our table mates. The menu did not change much; not at all at breakfast. By the end of the week, the fresh fruit was nearing the rotten stage. Mostly melon each day, with some pineapple and a few grapes. Strawberries only on the first morning, and for the poolside buffet, which was very good. Children were in the adults only pool. The itinerary was wonderful, making up a little for the food and service. We had great weather in all ports. You do not need the RCCL shuttle bus in Civitavecchia, but you do in Livorno and Marseille. They really should not charge $6 each way for it, because your day in port would be worthless without it, a prearrranged driver, or a shore excursion. Cabin service was outstanding by Christian, aft 7. But, the floor near the elevators had the scent of raw sewage all week. Not sure why, but it never improved. Several people complained. Wed. night, we heard banging, clanking, drilling, etc. Supposedly there was a broken pipe. Thurs. and Fri. nights we also heard it, but for no more than a few minutes. Some of the wines on the wine packages were not available. Cabin safe and mini fridge were very welcome. Disembarking was a little confusing because luggage came down not in sync with how colors were called. Would I do it again??? Only for the itinerary. Most of the people we talked with felt that RCCL's standards have dropped drastically.
