Cathedral in Barcelona

Does anyone know when the renovations on the cathedral in Barcelona are to be complete? Was going to book Colon Hotel across street only if they are completed by next year.

I was there 2 years ago and they had scafolding up then and it is still up now . It may be like La Sagrada a never ending project. lol

Are you referring to the Sagrada Familia? If so, is isn't renovation you're seeing, but the original construction work for the building. That Wikipedia article suggests that there is a target date of 2026 for completion. (Gaudi himself expected that it could take 200 years to finish.)

 

The Sagrada Familia is not a cathedral; this is Barcelona's cathedral.

I was just in Barcelona in May and the scaffolding covered the catherdal !

The Sagrada Familia is a work in progress and will not be finished for years

(20-30) if ever !

If you are referring to the Barcelona Cathedral, which is in the Gothic Quarter, we were just there in May and the construction is expected to last until 2008. You can't see much of that beautiful baroque facade these days, unfortunately.

 

If you are talking about Sagrada Familia, it is still under construction; it was begun isn 1882 and is expected to be completed in 2030.

I was talking about the Barcelona Cathedral. I know the other one is never ending. But if the BC is going on until 2008 I think I will consider another hotel for a different view. Thanks for all your information.
