Eileen G Posted June 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2006 We had a wonderful cruise. We did leave at 10:30 PM instead of 9:00 because of the work slowdown with the luggage. Only had one rainy day which was Icy Straite. Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. Any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
cruznon Posted June 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Eileen, Welcome home! We leave in 2 1/2 weeks and so excited. I'd like your impressions of the ship. What ports excursions did you take/recommend? How were the seas?
Eileen G Posted June 6, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted June 6, 2006 We didn't do any ship excursions just did our own thing. Icy strait - we walked through the cannery and all the stores and museum. Then we walked into town. Also did the forest and beach walk. Skagway- last time we rented a car which was great. this time we did two hikes, ranger led walking tour and looked through the shops. I got the free bracelet at dimonds International and added the free charm at each port ( pretty cheep bracelet but still a great souvenir). Juneau-This time we rented a car and drove to Mendenhal and hiked to the waterfall (it's an unoffical trail near Photo Point) which was really beautiful. Then we drove all the way to the end of the road. Ketchikan- Did the walking tour. If you can get to the fish prossesing plant you may get to see a lot of eagles and take Water Street the view is breathtaking and there are a lot of eagles in the trees right along the street.Thats on the West end tour. We were vert lucky the seas were very mild.
