Marcello Maresca - Has anyone used his services for Amalfi Tours?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used Marcello?? We were wondering if he's a really good guide? Any feedback is much appreciated.

Is he very accomodating? Does he rush you along??

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

We took a tour with Marcello on the 19th of May and had a fantastic trip. There were five of us and some had seen Pompei before and requested more time on the Amalfi drive. We did a reverse tour starting at Ravello instead of Sorrento, thus we avoided much of the traffic and following tour buses. Marcello took us to places that buses and most tours do not go and the views were unbeliveable. He took as much time as we wanted to explain about the area and see what we wanted to see.

Arriving close to Sorrento in the afternoon hunger pains overtook our viewing enthusiasm and we stoped at Ristorante Zio Sam Pizzeria for a wonderful lunch with four types of wine and a mouthwatering dessert, total cost 70 euro for all five.

Prior to returning to the ship in Naples Marcello stopped at Villa San Marco, a ruins that is being unearthed, and as yet undiscovered by many other tourists, a small private Pompei. We were the only ones there.

Obviously we were pleased and cannot recommend him enough.

Yes, we used him 2 years ago and enjoyed our day so much that we booked another tour with him for our trip this June.

He is quite a character and very passionate about his country. He steers you clear of the tourist traps, and you will visit places along the coast that have very few visitors. We never felt rushed, and he stopped at many places along the way for gorgeous views. We had the most amazing meal of the whole trip in some tiny village, then afterwards stopped in Pompeii for a tour.

I would not hesitate to hire Marcello. :)

Our family of four used "Marco", Marcello's assistant, last August for the

day. We formed a caravan with Marcello and his tour group and did Pompeii

and the Amalfi Coast. At first, we were disappointed that we got the

assistant instead of Marcello himself, but we loved Marco. So we think

Marcello runs a great company and provides super tours. They are quite

personable.

Six of us used Marcello last June. We had the most glorious day with Marcello as our guide. He picked us up at the ship in Naples, drove along the Amalfi Coast... stopping along the way to see beautiful sights. We also stopped at a fruit and veggie stand along the roadway... the most marvelous tasting cherries and the largest lemons we've ever seen. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant in the hills of Ravello... we are still talking about the wonderful food and of course, the lemoncello. We then drove on to Pompeii, which was awesome but very hot. If you plan to see the ruins, buy some ice cold water right outside the entrance... you'll be glad you did. Also wear a sun hat, there isn't much shade. From Pompeii, we drove back to the ship. Marcello's van was new and clean and the air conditioning kept us nice and cool... and he was an expert driver on the turns along the Amalfi drive. I absolutely recommend Marcello!
