Today's The Day!!!!

We are spending the night in St Louis, then flying out tomorrow morning for Seattle. Will spend the night in Seattle, take the Cascades Train to Vancouver on Friday, spend the night there, then it's "cruise day"! I'll post a review when I return. Thanks for all the help that I received here.

One negative is that my 87 year old mother had a bad case of pancreatitis a couple of weeks ago. It was caused by gall stones, and they are going to remove the gall bladder. The surgery may possibly take place while I am gone and I am pretty freaked out about that. She has an anyurism (sp) in her stomach and that complicates the issue. They are going to repair it while they are in there and it is a very dangerous surgery. She will NOT HEAR of us postponing our cruise. Especially because they may not do the surgery until we return (hopefully). I have 2 other sisters that live within 20 miles, so she will be well covered, but I can't help but worry about it. I realize that if the worst happens there is nothing that I could do about it if I was here, but I just hate that I might gone. Guess I will just give her a big hug and tell her that I love her and pray a lot!

Bless your heart !!! We have taken our last two cruises with family members very ill, but insisting that we go. It seems that the older we get, there is always some major happening that makes it difficult to leave, much less enjoy our trip. But the splendor, the incredible bliss you experience in Alaska will help ease your mind for sure. You are in for one awesome adventure, esp. sailing out of Vancouver. Every inch will be soo beautiful. Stay out on deck as much as possible to see the scenery and wildlife. Try to take in Pike Mkt. in Seattle if possible - a great place with beautiful flowers, great fruit - anything and right on the waterfront. Enjoy this opportunity - our country's Great Northwest is just that - GREAT. gg

Just got an update. They are not going to repair the anyurism (I need to look up how to spell that word) when they do the surgery. They are going to do lazer surgery and only remove the gall bladder. They will have a heart surgeon present in case they need him. It's not a major relief for me, but a little one. Thanks for the moral support.
