October from Miami?

Has anyone done a Caribbean cruise from Miami in October? We are considering this time of year with friends, but I'm concerned about the weather. Would leaving from San Juan be better? Or is October just a risky time of year to cruise?

October is still hurricane season so there is some risk of storms but that is still true for San Jaun too. We have done our last three cruises in October and lucked out and had nice weather. Miami is still hot in October!

We have done a total of 5 cruise all at the end of October.

2 out of Ft. Lauderdale

1 out of Miami

1 out of Los Angeles

1 out of Puerto Rico

 

Never a problem with the weather, it has always been sunny and warm. Doing another one this year at the end of October out of Ft. Lauderdale.

We often cruise around Halloween. It is the towards the end of Hurricane and the rainy season in many Caribbean destinations. Other than it being cool out to sea when we left Long Beach, CA, or encountering the tip of a hurricane when leaving San Juan, most days at sea and port were very pleasant and comfortable. Very few showers to recall if any. The earlier in the month the more risk. I would stir away from the Eastern Caribbean ports, but you never know when mother nature will strike.

We sailed last year on Oct. 2nd and the whole week was a bust. We only had one full day of sun. It looks like from the other posters the end of the month is safer.
