I dont know if someone has posted this questions already. 1st, can you only get in to Cable Beach thru one of the Resort hotels? 2nd, If so how much does it cost? If not does Cable Beach charge a fee? And what can you do on that beach what actitives do that have? And how far is it from the Cruise piers? Sorry for all the question. Just wanted to be clear on what I have been reading. Thanks ahead for any info you can give me.

We went to Nassau in January and decided we'd just take a walk. We got off the ship (Mariner of the Seas) and started walking to the right, thinking we'd come upon a beach. We walked a long, long time before arriving at Cable Beach - someone told us it was Cable. There was an unusual cold front while we were there - everyone wore jackets - so no one was out enjoying the beach, but it didn't look that impressive to us; pine trees instead of palm trees. We just hopped on a bus (for a very small fee) and rode back to the port. I have a picture but don't know how to post it. Sorry I can't answer more questions, but at least I know it's a few miles from the port and a LONG walk!

We took a cab to Cable Beach and it was about a 15 minute ride in traffic. There were several resorts there and you can just walk through them straight out to the beach for free. We enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Rented wave runners and laid in the sun all day. There are certain areas that are reserved for hotel guests, but other areas are open to anyone. Food, drinks and bathrooms are available. You can also go into the casinos if you like. It's easy to find a cab back to the ship. They are lined up in front of the resorts.

We were at Cable Beach last week. We took the jitney to the Nassau Beach Hotel. The beach in front of the hotel is eroded from the hurricane last year (or the year before?). It's a beautiful beach, but we had to walk down about 200 feet to where it sloped naturally. My 9 year old kept trying to climb the "cliff" (about 5 feet tall). It was fun to her, but not very safe. The Wyndham right next door doesn't have a beach. Farther down the beach was fine.
