Looking for Sunshine Posted June 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2006 I am trying to plan my time in Venice and I'm trying to discover how we get from where Carnival's Liberty ship is docked to the sights of Venice. If you know how to get there and approximately how long it takes...I would be very appreciative!
wwinfl91 Posted June 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Here is a link for the main Venice port with a map. You can either walk over to the Piazzala Roma and from there to the Grand Canal and catch a water bus down the Grand Canal to St Marks Square or most ships offer a waterbus ticket for the day that will take you from the port to St Marks. http://www.vtp.it/pages/comeRaggiungerci/comeRaggiungerci01.jsp?m=1 Here is another link with lots and lots of info on Venice. http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/ Have a great next cruise and enjoy your visit in this mystical city. Juliadlf Posted June 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2006 We were on the Liberty last year and Carnival sold shuttle bus service to Piazzale Roma where the ACTV is. However, when we got off the ship and saw the line for the shuttle bus we decided to walk over instead. It took about 15 to 20 minutes. There is Alilaguna water taxi service at the pier which goes to St.Marks Square also. http://www.alilaguna.com/. Not sure of the times that it runs but you can check the website for more information and pricing. Have fun in Venice. You'll love it!! happy1 Posted June 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2006 We purchased the 24 hour ticket (which worked perfectly for the Liberty's 2 day visit since the times fell within the 24 hour period) at the vaparreto station. It was 12 Euro and allowed us to access any of the water busses. When it started to get dark, we just jumped on water busses and cruised the city, enjoying the lights and "seeing" into the various homes and restaurants. dj2u Posted June 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2006 just got off the liberty on monday.it is about a 15 minute walk to vaporatta stop ROMA once you get there you buy a 24 hour vaporrata pass good for 24 hours you can jump on or off the water taxi at any time usally no lineups and by far the most inexpensive and probably the funnest way to see venice.the trip from the ship th piasa san marco is 6 euros each way whereas the vaporatt pass you can go back and forth as much as you like
