cruise8693 Posted June 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2006 Hi!!! My 13 year old daughter and I were having a conversation today - it went something like this....I said we could use the cool tiki guy on our room door at Vacation Bible School on our door on the Victory (june 17th). She insisted that no, it was not a Caribbean sailing so we could not. I said, well, ok, but I bet they still have Caribbean/Reggae type music on the Lido deck. She said, OH MOM NO WAY. I said, I bet they do. SO - someone who has been on a Canadian sailing - what's the band like on the Lido deck? :) Deborah
Sue L Posted June 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2006 DH and I think there was a reggae band on the Victory 3 years ago. Neither of us are positive though. Some of the details of the differents cruises are starting to blur together.
nybumpkin Posted June 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2006 There was a calypso band on our Victory sailing to Canada two years ago. I can't remember the name, but they played most afternoons. The tiki guy for the cabin dooris fine!
Binney Posted June 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2006 I recall listening to the steel drums and watching the brightly colored shirts through...THE FOG...and thinking to myself that it was strange.
JackieL Posted June 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2006 I went on this trip three years ago. We sat on the Lido deck in our jeans and sweatshirts in the fog, listening to the terrific calypso/steel drum band. When they went on break, we bought them beer! They were from Dominica, as I recall. Great music, nice guys. I also recall an Asian band in the Adriatic Lounge, which played 70's music (very well, I might add). Karaoke was in the Red/Black Sea Lounge...very fun. Make sure you bring some warmer clothing. Have fun!
Rare blackwing Posted June 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2006 Interesting, personally if I were doing an Alaskan or Canadian cruise I'd be hoping for some Yukon-style, log-rolling type music. You know, the kind that plays in the background at amusement parks with Yukon-themed areas. (I'm Canadian myself, so I get a kick out of it.)
