whiskey girl Posted June 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2006 What are my options to give tips? I know I can bring cash and put in envelopes but if I choose to link it to my Sea Pass, how does that work. Can/should I do that before I go on line (I depart on 6/11) and print that out with the documents I take with me or do I assign that onsite. If I opt for the 'standard' to be put on my card when and how may I increase the amount if I deem it appropriate? I realize room service should be tipped with cash at the time of service. I would like to know my options to tip other than the standard electronically. Thanks in advance for your sage advice.
wrp96 Posted June 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2006 If you want to put the charges on your SeaPass, you sign up for that once you are onboard the ship. You can only put the suggested amount on your SeaPass. Any additional amounts would have to be in cash, and what you would do is put the cash in the envelopes with the vouchers you are given showing you paid the tips on your SeaPass account. Again I will add just one thing. Yes you can designate to put the tips on your sea pass before you board. However, I always wait until I have been on board for a couple of days to make that decision. On rare occasions I have come across the individual that is below par. I can usually spot them in the first couple of days. On those occasions, I tip in cash and will tip below the suggested amount. (If you are short of cash, go to the casino and get cash on your sea pass...no cash advance or ATM charges!) What I find my self doing on virtually every cruise, though, is putting the tips on my sea pass and then adding cash because the people were soooo very good! Rare TPKeller Posted June 8, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 8, 2006 And of course if you wish to prepare your envelopes ahead of time (or just know how much the total recommended tips will be if you decide to charge them) take a minute to visit the Cruise Tip Calculator! :D http://cruisetip.tpkeller.com/ Theron
