jtimmer Posted June 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2006 Below is the NOAA forecast for the waters leaving NYC. It looks like we will have seas of 6-9 feet for the first day or two. Pincus Posted June 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2006 I'm sure someone will jump in here with the answer to your question. Having done one crossing on the QM2 I have every reason to believe that she can handle the seas beautifully. She is sturdy and stable. Can you post the NOAA site which provided this information? It's great! Thanks. Pincus
jtimmer Posted June 8, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted June 8, 2006 this is the NOAA site: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ Just click on the part of the ocean you want and it will give a forecast. This site has a cool map showing conditions on the Atlantic ocean: http://www.oceanweather.com/data/
Palmetto Pilot Posted June 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2006 a 6-9 foot swell is nothing for the QM2, i doubt you will feel it at all.
Pincus Posted June 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2006 jtimmer, thanks so much. These sites are very helpful. Two posters: Northernneighbor and Paul NH have written a lot about the QM2crossing. Paul NH is just back from a B2B on her, and Northern went one way on the Amsterdam and the other back on the QM2. My memory, in reading what has been written here, is that Palmetto Pilot is correct. She was built for crossing, not cruising! That's what makes her special to me. Pincus
Threadfin Posted June 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2006 I believe that I will have a couple of preemptive martinis tonight. See you there! Looking for Red Hookers tomorrow. Threadin NJ
