california mike Posted June 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2006 Its kind of fun. You show up when you are ready to eat (within time allowed I think its 5:30 to 10) and you are seated then (we never had to wait). We ate with different people every night which we enjoyed. All were real nice. If you have a group you can make a reservation. If you want to eat by your self you may have to wait. It worked well for us. Its pretty much like most ships do for lunch and breakfast in the main dining room
ZPOOD@AOL.COM Posted June 11, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted June 11, 2006 Thanks California Mike, Do you have to pick one or the other or can you chose dinning room time and then go to open choice if you want too?
JolieMadam Posted June 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2006 When you book your cruise, you choose "personal choice" or traditional dining. Whichever one you select, you are expected to be dining there. You do not jump back and forth between one or the other. It is OK to dine at one of the specialty restaurants on occasion.....just inform your Maitre D' when you are going to do this if you are in the traditional dining room. Cruisin' Chick Posted June 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2006 I better explain that so you and others won't get confused. "Personal Choice" refers in general to the way Princess offers dining (sitdown, buffet, daytime grill or pizza, or room service). "Traditional dining" is when you are assigned to a specific time (there are two seatings) and table. "Anytime dining" is when you show up at an "Anytime Dining Room" and see if there's an available table (or you can make reservations). When you book your cruise, you can specify "Early Traditional," "Late Traditional," or "Anytime." Sometimes people here refer to "Anytime" as "Personal Choice."
