Venice--piazzale roma to ship

We are arriving in Venice on the Carnival Liberty on June 27, and I would like to know how one returns from Piazzale Roma to the ship late in the evening. I understand that there is an express water taxi from the ship to and from Piazza San Marco, but it stops running in the late afternoon. My concern is my elderly father who would find it difficult to walk all the way back to the ship from the Piazzale Roma. Is there a ship shuttle? Or are taxis available in the late evening? Thanks!

The shuttle bus to/from the Liberty was 5 euros roundtrip. We came back to the ship around midnight and didn't have a problem. There was a line of people waiting for the next bus which came about 5 minutes after we joined the line.
