Need some help please!!

Recommended Posts

I don't have any ideas what to do about favors or out of town bags. I was just wondering what other cruise brides did? Especially with getting married on a cruise I would like it to be something geared towards that, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

HI ya,
I'm facing the same dilema.
So far I'm comming up w/ these ideas.
We are from Baltimore so I was going to give my guests who are comming to my wedding stuff like Utz Crab flavored potato chips, and something that is only in Baltimore and most of my guests are comming from the DC area is these cookies that you can only find up here called Berger cookies.
Maybe some suntan lotion........... candy............. I'm debating flip flops ( I want to get the right sizes) ( and they're only like $4 at Target!)
I'm still working on other ideas..... I'll let you know if I think of anything else.
Does this help?
Kathy :)

Thanks Kathy this does help a bit. I just needed options from other people as getting one's from my family is difficult right now. They are in the same boat as me with questions. I didn't know if favors for a cruise ship wedding would be different then what you would do for a big traditional one. I think I am looking for something uinique.

Thank you for your reply, if you do think of other things let me know. All the help is appreciated.

We're doing lotto ticket favors. You can see them at http://www.blissweddingsmarket.com/store/000110.htm . We figured you gamble while your on a cruise so it kinda goes with the cruise theme. We didn't want any "dust collector" wedding favors.

For our vow renewal I am doing beach bags for the guests. Each bag will have a beach towel, a cute tropical travel drinking cup, a bottle of drink mixers, aloe, dollar store sunglasses, a tropical picture frame, and maybe some sand toys.

Good luck!

Thank you ladies for the ideas, I greatly appreciate them. I still have no idea what I want to do, but it is a start. Now I can start thinking about what I would like to do, as I realize that it is o.k. to do something fun and exciting as a gift then something practical.

We are also out of Baltimore!!! Will be getting married 2005 hopefully on RC to Bermuda!!! If any of you know teachers, I have a girlfriend who is one and, turned me on to a catalog called Oriental Trading Company!!! It has great, cute stuff like leis, flip flop candles, all sorts of cute "fillers" to go in a guest bag!! We hope to have 75-100 people going with so, for us we need some cheapy stuff to go with sunglasses, towels and portable cameras. All teachers apparently swear by this place. Good Luck!

Hi,
I am getting married on the RC Soverign of the Seas next Friday. This week I shipped down my wedding favors to the hotel that we are staying at the night before cruising. I purchased 7.5 once juice glasses with our names engraved on them. I bought periwinkle(our colors) candles and sand and tiny seashells. I am going to the day before put the sand and candle into the glass and sprinkle seashells on top. I saw it in a magazine and thought...how great. I also purchased fabric from a local discount place and cut tablecloths for the cocktail tables for the reception. I bought cheapo vases at the craft store and single fake periwinkle roses for centerpices. I will post pics when we return. While i was planning my wedding I did not feel that there was enough info on receptions aboard the Soverign or other ships for that matter. Keep in mind...RC doesn't do any decorating for the reception, only some flowers for the ceremony.

PS. I also shipped down welcome buckets to give to my guests once we start sailing. I bought sand pails with shovel attached from walmart ($.88) and bought tropical bandana and cheapo sunglasses from a party store as well as store brand suntan lotion, inflatable beach balls for the pool, plastic fans and chapstick.

We are getting married Nov 14 in St Thomas.

I am also planning to make welcome sand pails and have them waiting for my guests in their staterooms. I got many bucket fillers from Oriental Trading as mentioned in a previous post. They have cute pens, pencils, and tropical shirt sticky notes. I also got tropical fish bookmarks and tropical playing cards, bubbles in tiny chanpagne bottles, and travel size mind teasers and games. I have floating flip flop candles and picture frames that I got at local stores. I am also going to to buy some casino tokens after I get on the ship to put in the buckets. I am considering putting a credit on each of cabin accounts and adding a note indicating this. I also could like to include a personal not or card in each of the buckets thanking my guests for sharing the week with me.

My only delema...I purchased swiss army knives for all of the guys going. I am not sure that I will be able to bring them on board the ship. I know that I can pack them in checked luggage on the plane. Has anyone taken a pocket type knife on a ship recently?

Details, details. Since so much is being handled by the coordinators, I have to have something to obsess about!

134 days until we sail!!!!!! 135 until the wedding!!!!!!!!

I am getting married on a cruise in Jan 05 and found the PERFECT favors. They are cruise ship shaped silver luggage tags from beaucoup. If you go to www.beaucoup.com and search for nautical luggage tags you'll see them. I ordered a sample and they are VERY high quality. Not cheesy or cheap, but heavy and nice.

I am also doing welcome bags for the guests. I got 20 huge beach bags on EBAY (if you search for "lots" you'll find great deals on items in bulk) for 60 bucks. I'm filling them with the following (most of which I've purchased from Ebay by buying lots, getting GREAT deals):

Disposable Camera
Picture Frame
Custom Tshirt (we're having them made for everyone)
Sunscreen
Dramamine
Chap Stick
Post Cards
Itinerary for group activities (meet and greet, breakfast on the last day)
Map of the ship

I think people will really like them. The kids are getting totally different stuff, like water wings, flip flops, walkie talkies and other goodies.

We also found the coolest invitations, they are a message in a bottle. They are expensive, but doable for a small party. I have a sample of that as well and they are really, really high quality. I got them from www.southshoredesigns.com. I think they will be something the guests will keep forever and will get them in the mood for the cruise!

Hope this helps someone. Good luck!

However, how are you planning on getting all the items on board? I have 25 guests joining. I like the beach bag full of goodies, but that is a lot. Any ideas??

We aren't getting married on our cruise but having a theme wedding before we go. My favors are small 2" galvanized buckets ( they also come in white ) that can be filled with sea shell chocolates or anything else you want. I'm filling mine with tropical flavoured jelly beans since the wedding is outside in August and I don't want them to melt.
