dancermom09 Posted June 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2006 We have cruised to the Carribean several times on DCL and CCL, always with a balcony. My DH and DD are scuba divers, so it has been neccessary, someplace to dry the equipment. I have booked an 11 day cruise on DCL for summer 2007 with 6 or 7 days in port. I booked an Ocean View to save some $$. The itinerary is Barcelona, Palermo, Naples, Sardinia, Rome, Florence, and Monte Carlo, then back to Barcelona. My question, how much will we miss having a balcony? It is a June cruise, not sure how the weather is. Maybe our porthole (they are quite large) will be just fine for sea days. If I change my mind soon, it will add about $1200 to our bill. If later, it will be more. What do you think?
karen2cruz Posted June 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2006 I havent cruised the Mediterranean but I have traveled the region and the scenery is gorgeous. I cant imagine sailing there without a balcony. That is a steep $ upgrade, but it is DCL. I would probably book a dif. cruiseline to get a balcony. Oh, and the weather will be warm there in June. dancermom09 Posted June 21, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted June 21, 2006 I'm afraid it's DCL or nothing, we are spoiled. Plus, we will know people on the cruise that we have cruised with before. I just checked, and the Navigator veranda is actually $2800 more. Yikes! I guess we will make do with our porthole, or learn to enjoy Deck 4 promenade or the secret rear of deck 7. Thanks for the comment though.
