MOST (not all) Carnival ships do it this way:

 

The early seating diners go to the early show at 8:45.

The late seating diners go the the late show at 10:30.

 

There will be two different production shows on two different nights of the cruise. Other shows are held around 10:30, and I believe the adult-only comedy show is at midnight.

What ship and itinerary are you asking about?

It can make a difference.

 

We'll be on the 8 day Victory cruise in Oct. going to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama. We've sailed on the Fascination (5 day cruise), had late seating and didn't make too many of the late shows. We went to Alaska last year on Holland America and it had an early show.
