Freedom of The Seas Review 6/18

Recommended Posts

Just off the ship. Had a great vacation. The ship was just like the Voyager class, just a bit bigger , but very similar. The flow rider was a big hit. My three kids (18, 20,23) enjoyed this and never had a problem getting on it.

Boading the ship was a breeze. We headed over at 12:00 and got right on. We had a balcony room and an inside room. With the beds separated, the room was tight. The new bedding was wonderful though. Aaron took care of our room, we hardly ever saw him but our room was always made up.

The dining room was just ok. Food was neither very good or very bad. Service was rough at times. They would serve the main course with the soups and salads. One night my dad almost blew a gasket as he watched his soup sit getting cold while our server gave everyone at another table their salads. He finally asked the asst. waiter to bring his soup to the table. By then it was cold. We learned after that not to expect to much. They were trying, but they just did not always have it together.

We also ate in Chops and Portofinos. Portofinos was far superior in food and service. Both were excellent meals. We wish we had eaten there more during the week.

The entertainment was fantastic on the ship. The freedom dancers put on two fabulous shows. The Osmonds came onboard. Since I loved Donny as a kid, they were fun to watch. Made me realize how old I've gotten. The ice show was good, alot like on the Voyager class, Quest was a dissapointment. Only because in the area we sat the person had obviously been to many Quests, and had everything ready to go when Ken asked for something. She did not even need help from the audience.

Disembarkation was handled well. We were called off the ship at 8:00am and did not have a flight until 2:00 pm. We ate breakfast in the Windjammer and headed down at our leisure.

Overall a great time. It was what I expected having been on Voyager and Mariner of The Seas. Plenty to do and see. Great choice for families. Never really felt too full except on the last sea day and even then we were always able to get pool chairs. The best part, we had beautiful weather all week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Casino

Forgot to add this for the gamblers. Coldest casino I have ever been in. I never saw a Craps table so bad and I gamble alot. It was so tough to win at that My husband and I wondered jokingly if the diced were fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, the nicest crew at sea. very friendly and fun to talk to, even when they were taking my money. there was also one Texas Hold em table. they needed more, You had to get on a waiting list if you wanted to play.

Deb...we were on your cruise also. Wonder if my kids met yours...20, 18, 14, the two older ones were in clubs alot...til late...all boys.

RE: casino...I played the slots and didn't start winning much til Thursday night. The next day while I was there, the CM said he was rebooting all the slots for a second. After that, nothing paid. I said something to him about it and he said they keep track of the payouts and if there was a good night to play the slots in the casino, it was Thursday night. Just a tip for other gamblers...maybe this is the trend for each cruise.

they probably did meet. My daughter is Corey, sons, Mark and Daniel. They were in the club til closing most nights. What are your boys names.

Casino was rough for me. I did not play slots, just table games. It was a fun cruise . We met lots of nice people.

Oh my gosh...did you meet my future husband, Michael? He is adorable! (although, sadly, I am kidding about the "future husband" thing. :))

oh i was just joking...i was definitely a part of that scene at the crypt...because Jimmy played from 10 - 1..and the crypt wasnt really good til like 1, so it worked out perfectly...so we'd hit Bull&Bear with Jimmy then swing on down to crypt. Yeah soft-core is a good way of putting it haha.

I went in, but i never saw my 18 yr old daughter. She did have her older brothers watching out for her and i know when she was asked to dance the guy asked her brothers first if it was ok to dance with her. She has a steady boyfriend so I think she was ok...... Now the boys are another story......

Debsavas....My 2 older sons are Jeremy 20 and Brandon 18. Brandon said he knows your sons. Brandon was the one dancing til all hours...he had a blast.

Zotzer.....And yes both my husband and I were in the Crypt late at night...We danced and hung out because we also like some of the older music from our time..70's-80's. I did see some kids freaking but the girls were a little bit more risque than the guys. Did not see any rowdiness or drunken, obnoxious kids and Security seemed to have it under control..esp on last night where they know kids pull an all nighter. I definitely noticed more strict guidelines w/ checking ID's, etc...glad to see it!
