sbwmail Posted July 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2006 When using a credit card on our Mediterranean cruise (at the businesses that accept credit cards) do we need to show another form of ID, also?
Rare Hlitner Posted July 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2006 I cannot ever recall being ask for ID when using a CC in the Med. However, there are many who recommend that you carry a copy of the first page of your passport (the one with your photo). Ironically, the problem is cashing travelers checks where I have often seen banks demand a passport. We have been in a few places where the cruise ship tells the passengers that local authorities insist that you carry a photo id along with your cruise card. nparmelee Posted July 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2006 We were never asked for ID for our credit cards. In fact, most of ours have "Check ID" printed in the signature line and some people looked at that, apparently didn't understand it and continued on with the transaction. envy4u Posted July 6, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 6, 2006 I think it depends on the store and how much you are spending . When we were in Rome we were asked for photo id when we were making purchases at Tiffany's and Bvlgari .
