long2cruise Posted July 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2006 How do I try to upgrade my cabin when checking in at port? Right now there are no cabins to upgrade to. But I think there are always people last minute that cannot go. Will RCL upgrade us if requested at port or should I ask ahead of time. Will they charge us full upgrade price to give us a deal ? Explorer 8/06 We were going to upgrade earlier from a D1 Superior Ocean View on 10th flooor with balcony to a JS. But they only look a little wider but they wanted $1200. more which was the going normal rate. I didn't think that was worth an upgrade to a JS. But maybe if they gave us a deal. But the ship looks pretty booked for 3 passengers in a stateroom.
Alexis Posted July 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2006 This is from CC Radio The UPGRADE Prices were received at the Pier Coordinators desk, by me on several Cruises. They will have a list of cabins that have not been booked. You must go to the Pier Coordinators desk BEFORE you board the ship.... If you wait until you get on the ship to try to U/G..you will ALWAYS see a sign saying the ship is full. I have Upgraded several times.... You should ask where the P/C desk is AFTER you receive your Sea Pass Card... You can only get upgraded AFTER you get Checked In... Radio From INSIDE to Royal Suite - $1500 Suite - $1000 Balcony - $600 Outside - $300 Inside - $100 From OUTSIDE to Royal Suite - $1200 Suite - $700 Balcony - $300 Outside - $100 From BALCONY to Royal Suite - $1000 Suite - $400 Balcony - $100 From SUITE to Royal Suite - $800 Suite - $400 This list is still accurate for a 7 night Cruise...Add or subtract for shorter or longer cruises...__________________
CruisinNJ Posted July 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2006 Interesting - I always assumed that you did this at check-in or on the ship. Are those prices per person, or per room, no matter how many are sailing (i.e. 2 people, vs, 4, etc.)? Also, where is the Pier Coordinator located - lets say in the Miami cruise terminal - I have never noticed a sign, etc.

I have never tried to upgrade. Someone else may pop in and answer that one for you.;) This is what Radio wrote in the above post. long2cruise Posted July 13, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted July 13, 2006 Thanks for the reply. Now I would assume you would want to check in as early as possible to check on available cabins. What time is the earliest you can usually start doing this. We are leaving out of Cape LIberty, New Jersey. Thanks
rubrrick Posted July 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2006 Alexis........I have seen this question asked before........and you are always there with the correct answer. At the time of check in..........ask for the pier co ordinator, to the person that is helping you check in. There may be signs saying "Ship is full, no upgrades".........and if that is so........then ask for the purser once onboard to verify that, in fact that ship is full.
