Turtle Encounter

Has anyone done the Barbados Turtle Encounter? If so, how far from the HAL Noordam ship is the beach? Attached below is the excursion description...

"Enjoy a powerboat ride along the beautiful west coast of Barbados, gliding past beautiful palm-fringed beaches, through crystal-clear water to your destination at Turtle Bay. Experienced guides will equip you with your snorkel gear, instruction and some interesting information about the lives and habits of turtles. Then it's time to swim with these tame and friendly creatures. A waterproof camera is a must to capture this exceptional experience! After your turtle encounter, you'll stop at a nice beach to relax. Stroll, swim and enjoy a rum punch or cool drink on the beach. Complimentary banana or doughnut rides, snorkel equipment, beach toys and kayaks are available at the beach--fun for all ages!"

It's only 3 hours (leaving at 8 am), so I wanted to know if it would be feasable to stay longer at the beach and make our way back to the ship on our own.
