planning on going to paradise beach, but is Dzul Ha close enough to swim or walk to?

We have some real snorkelers in our group that heard the snorkeling shouldn't be missed, but the rest of us want a great beach to eat and soak up the sun!!!

No, Paradise Beach is no where near Dzul Ha. We had a hard time deciding between the 2, but chose Dzul Ha for the snorkeling. We ended up having a nice time, but the snorkeling really was not that great - only OK. What we enjoyed the most was the tide pooling made available by the rocky shoreline. PB is a sandy beach - no snorkeling or tide pooling - but we think we will go there next time and snorkel elsewhere.

We're about 4 miles south of Dzul- Ha, about 5 min. by taxi.

There actually is snorkeling at PB, we found some coral heads about 3 months ago that we've marked off with red buoys, where there are tons of fish. The following is part of a post that keysjohnson wrote a couple of months ago:

We also snorkled and for all you snorkel fans, it was way better than anticapated. If you snorkel out almost to the bouys, there are a couple of coral heads. They are not very big, but there was a lot of fish around them. The day had started out rainy and cloudy so the water was a litle stirred up and choppy but you could still see very well. I saw some of the biggest conch I've ever seen. We saw parrot fish, angel fish, blue tangs, lots of juveniles of different kinds, and a nice variety of other small fish.

Hasta la vista!
