Bahama cruiser SOS in Jan. - What to expect

Recommended Posts

We are cruising Sovereign of the Seas in Jan. and it departs Port Canaveral, FL and goes to Nassau and Cococay. If you have done this in Jan. I am interested in hearing your thoughts. What's the weather/temp like at each of these ports? Was the water warm?

It is the first time we have did this outside of the summer months and would like to hear about your experiences and learn what to expect - and how to pack.

Thanks in advance.

I asked this question last week, and got all good replies. The weather should be great, I ahv been told. Pleanty warm but not hot like the high 90's it can get int he summer and fall.

Several people said that they only cruise in Jan and Feb, because of the weather.

Thanks 2boxers. It will be cold when I leave home so for me, not being used to traveling during this time of year, it will seem odd going from a big coat to shorts. Talking about white legs... hmmm... I wonder if I still have any visits left on my tan package.

We come from Northeast Ohio, one of only a few places in the world that has lake-effect snow! Get lots of cold air from Canada too. But by far, not the worst place to live in the winte. We like to get away in February/March. It does wonders for the spirit!

Chris

I would not just pack shorts for this cruise. Crystal and I went on her in November and all the Floridians were on the top deck during sail-away in coats and we were in short sleeved shirts. The temp was about 55-65, warm enough for us but not them.

It was quite funny watching them "bear" the cold.

NOTE: I am not making fun of those that live in Florida, it was just funny to us.

Tim & Crystal
