westerfiek Posted July 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2006 Reserved a cabana on HMC for a Nov 06 cruise on the Westerdam. What should we expect? How soon can we disembark? Any tips from former cabana users? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.:)

PAHORNER Posted July 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Well, I have been sooooo excited, DH and I have booked the Pink Cabana on our Jan. Zuiderdan cruise. One of the main reasons was because the last two times we have been to hmc we had some weird things happen, first time someone took our chairs when we went to restroom when we returned, our books ,towels, sunglasses in the sand, we could not have been gone longer than ten minutes. The second time we got the clamshell and we were sandwiched in with people so close in front, they had to move so we could get in and out of clamshell. So I told DH cabana is the way to go, we can leave our things without any worries. Now after reading several posts of people using the showers, and mats, I wonder if our belongings will be safe when we go do our stingray snorkel. We did not do the butler, as it is just the two of us. Should we leave a note saying we will be back?
cruznon Posted July 17, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 17, 2006 THat's an interesting question. When we had our cabana, people on the beach started coming up onto our porch to use our shower as if it was for everyone--even when we were sitting on the deck! Perhaps you might put snorkels and mats into the cabana and make sure to leave towels on chairs...make it look occupied. Perhaps you might ask the cabana boys to stop by and check on things while you're gone.
twinkletoes4445 Posted July 17, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Great reply twinkletoes! Allot of great info in these links! Thanks for listing them together! Why, thanks! :) I wish I could give a first-hand experience response, but we're going to be visiting HMC for the first time next winter. I should have listed your picture site...the pictures are awesome. Westerfiek...take a look at the pictures that Ziggy has posted. There are three different cabana picture groups. Heatherinflorida also has some great pictures. :) http://community.webshots.com/album/310184391qmbGBl
debjo Posted July 17, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Congratulations westerfiek... ...on securing a little piece of the Half Moon Cay real estate for yourselves. While I have to wait until October '06 for my HMC cabana experience, I'm sure you will have a great time. I've been doing a lot of research and have to say that these Cruise Critic folks are amongst the best for telling things like they are! For PAHORNER... Stay tuned for my "report" of the Pink Cabana (with Butler Upgrade)...I'll be enjoying that part of Half Moon Cay on my October '06 WESTERDAM cruise. If you ask me...for what those in my cruise group wanted...the cabanas further down the beach were the best...and the PINK one seems to have been quite popular with past cruisers. I HOPE THE BOTH OF YOU WON'T HAVE TO SHARE HALF MOON CAY'S PARADISE WITH ANOTHER HAL SHIP LIKE WE ARE! But if you do have to share "heaven" with another ship full of cruisers...the best way to do it is with your own cabana. You can check http://www.cruisecal.com to see if your ship will be the only one at Half Moon Cay the day that you are there. Ziggy7 Posted July 18, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Both times we have been there, we were the only ship. We never had any problems. We did make friends with some of those on the lounge chairs in front of us and invited them to use our shower whenever they liked. We also stored snorkle gear and mats farther in the cabana when we weren't there :) They gave us 4 sets of each, so we loaned 2 sets to our new friends that day :) I'm sure while we were gone they watched our place for us :)
