Questions about the Glory??

 I am getting ready to sail on the Glory in about 74 days and counting.

--Does the room have safes? Are they free??

--Does the tv in the room have something that says how much you owe for your sail and sign card??

--Mini fridges in the room?

--Do they have robes in the room or bring your own??

--going to Nassau, St. Thomas, & St Maartin. Do we dock or tender at these location??

--What is the best time to arive at pier?

And anythings else you can tell me about her. Thanks everyone!!! :)

Hi, I was on the Western itinerary, but I can answer some of these:

Yes there is a safe in the room, under the television. It was free, but you used your credit card as identification to open it.

There is a menu on the television that lets you book excursions and check your sign and sail balance.

There is a locked minibar in the room. We brought a small collapsable cooler in the room and got ice down the hall.

I was in an inside room and had two robes.

I went to Nassau -- we docked.

Everyone will tell you the sooner the better... They start letting people on about 11:30 - 12:00, but lines start forming sooner than that.

You will have a blast! It's a very nice ship.

It is recommended that you use an old gift card or old cash card on the safe. Any card with a magnetic strip will lock and open the safe. But you must use the same one all the time. As for the mini bar just have the room steward empty the contents and use it as you see fit. They gladly unlock the bar and store the contents for you. A $5. tip would be appropriate for this service.

You will love the Glory we sailed her 2 times and both times had a great cruise.

Yes, yes...but they are small. Just big enough for your wallet, your passport, some jewelry...nothing major.

Yes

Yes...you can have the minibar unlocked...as long as there are no minors on your room.

Yes...we had interior room, 2 robes. One long, one short.

Haven't been to these ports...yet. Can't say that after 9/9!!

They start boarding around 11:30 or so.

Glory is WONDERFUL!! Make sure you get to the fish & Chips place above the Red Sail restaurant (buffet). If you like coffee, the mochaccino's are AWESOME!! If you go to the talks or games in the Amber Palace, sit in the middle, because they often throw freebies into the audience. Be up on deck when you leave port and watch for Kennedy Space Center on the Port side. You'll see a large rectangle building with a huge flag on it. (Too bad the shuttle isn't out there to see, too.) You can see it with your naked eye.

Enjoy your trip!

I was on Glory with the same itinerary. We docked at Nassau and Martin but I believe Thomas is different, a hurricane came and we didnt get to stop there. I would also recommed using an old gift card because you may not want to carry a cc everywhere. Glory is a beautiful ship, it took my breathe away as a 1st time cruiser. Happy sailing

Just got off the Glory on July 15th!!!!!!! What a beautiful ship!!!!!!!!

Yes, there are two robes hanging in the closet for your use. There is a safe in the room that locks with a credit card. I tried locking with another magnetic strip card, but it wouldn't work. Had to use a credit card. You can use the TV to keep track of your sail and sign bill. We tracked ours daily to monitor how much we were spending. Also, all three ports were dock ports - no tendering at all. I've heard, however, that if a lot of ships are in port, you will tender into St. Thomas. And, yes, there are mini-fridges in the room - filled with sodas, beer, and mini-liquor bottles. They charge you if you use them. The sodas in the fridge are extra, even if you have a soda card. Finally, we arrived at the pier at 11:35 and were on the ship by 12:15. We couldn't go to our cabin yet since it wasn't quite ready, but we took our carry-ons and went to have lunch and a drink on the lido deck. If you have other questions, just ask. Have a super cruise.

Hi - I was on the July 1 sailing for the Glory and these are my ansers:

--Does the room have safes? Are they free?? Yes and Yes

--Does the tv in the room have something that says how much you owe for your sail and sign card?? Yes, its called Funvision, Just hit menu on your remote. YOu can even check the dinner menu for each day and book shore excursions and other fun information.

--Mini fridges in the room? NO. But you can use the minibar fridge.

--Do they have robes in the room or bring your own??Two robes in the balcony cabins...don't know about others...

--going to Nassau, St. Thomas, & St Maartin. St. Thomas I know that you dock...Nassau dock...never been to St. Maartin

--What is the best time to arive at pier? 10:00 is too early....11:00 is the perfect time to arrive. YOur cabin is usually ready by 1:30PM if you get lucky sometimes earlier just keep checking back...and bring your bathing suit so you can tan by the pool while you wait....

Your questions thus far have been answered!

As far as arriving at the pier....11:00 is probably good. it depends week to week. Pack a swimsuit and coverup, sunscreen, etc in your carry on. It will probably be a while before you see your luggage but this way you can enjoy that first day to it's fullest!

So, I just want to add my two cents and say that the Gkory is a wonderful ship! Enjoy!!

We did the same thing last month. The rooms do have small safes. You use any sort of magnetic strip card to lock the safe. They are free. The TV does have a list, but it's kinda tricky. If you look at the primary card holder, amounts will appear double billed...but it's actually all cards linked to that primary card (which is linked to your credit card). They did have a mini fridge in the room...but we didn't even have ours unlocked. Everything costs $$$ if you eat it...so we figured we would just leave it locked. We docked at all those ports, which made it really nice. We arrived around 11AM I think. We drove our rental from Orlando to the Hertz just south of the piers. They drove us to the ship. There was a bomb threat or scare and our guy knew a backway into the area...save us about an hour or so wait...awsome service. He took a different port exit and bypassed all the long lines of people who were parking their own personal vehicles.

This was my first cruise. I am pretty much not a sun worshippor and a tropical cruise really isn't my cup of tea. If you love laying out in the sun, reading a book, drinking a beer...you will love it (if weather is good). The casino area is filled with smoke...which drives my sinuses nuts and gives me a headache. If you use your sign and sail card at the slots, they charge 3% service fee...same if you buy chips to play card games. It's all about money...what isn't anymore. Once you get to these ports, cabs are costly. St. Thomas and St. Martin are the most expensive. We rented a car at St. Maartin...those people don't belive in street signs...it's crazy. We finally found the beach!!! They do offer cheap bingo every so often. We never ate at the fancy dinner...always on Lido deck. The pizza is 24/7, but they are not always cooked and ready to serve..so you may have to wait. If you want to eat at the Lido deck, go either before or after your common lunch times. During the busy times, lines at the Grill (hamburgers, hotdogs) and Pizza get long...mostly kids and teens and picky eaters like us. Breakfest is good, but the earlier you can get up and be ready...the quicker you will eat. Families with kids/teens seem to get up a little later and within 10-15 mins, the lines are long (but they go quick).

Note: The hot tubs on the back part of the ship say adults only, but they did not enforce that rule at all. Also, the hot tubs are fresh water. We got into one of the pools about four days into the cruise....they were semi salt water...which I can stand the taste of. Oh, on your fun-day-at-sea...kids will over take the pools, but usually not the hot tub. I was hoping the pools would be bigger...they are somewhat small. Please note there is a spa type workout area...I never got in to that area but I think there is a hot tub(s) in there that are never busy. Good luck.

You can use any card with a magnetic strip. I used my credit card, a bank ATM card, a AAA member card, a work ID, and a grocery store discount card. Sometimes if you swipe it the first time, it just doesn't take....just try again and it will work.

Our family was on the same cruise!! We did regular debarkation and not self assist and were the last people off the ship at 12:10pm!!! Customs had some issues. Therefore, the 7/15 folks had to wait until 12:15 when they started embarkation. Those poor people standing in line waiting, waiting, waiting....no dancing waiters anywhere to entertain them!:D

To EmmysMommy

We were late getting off on the Glory on the 15th also. However, not as late as you were. We finally got called to leave at around 11:15, but didn't actually get through the long lineto leave and go through customs until much later. We didn't get to Orlando airport until 1:35 and our son had a 2:45 flight out. He barely made it. Our flight was later, but check in lines were long and we didn't have a lot of time to spare, either!

But, that didn't prevent us from having a wonderful cruise, as I'm sure you did, also.

We are thinking of doing the Glory April 7 of 07. We want a balcony room. Any suggestions as to which deck is the best? We are thinking of Verandah to be close to the pool. Are rooms decent size? What about the bathrooms? Tiny showers like RCCL? May think about a suite just so we can have a bigger room and bath area. Any thoughts ?

St Martin you dock also and it's a BEAUTIFUL port!!! Glory is a beautiful ship.

Lobster on the first formal night and prime rib on the last one, a Chocolate buffet on Friday afternoon of the last day, Friday , the Grand Buffet on Thursday (2nd formal night)

The do have robs in the room.

There was a fridge in our room but it was locked, we didn't use it cause they kept the ice pitcher stocked and we drink lots of water, which is DELICIOUS on the ship, you don't need bottled.

Oh if your a foody try the Emerald Supper Club, it's well worth the 30.oo per person, the food is fab and the service perfect :D

Have a wonderful time

We sailed on the Glory in February and it was wonderful. We booked during a sale and were able to upgrade 3 levels. We ended up on the Panorama Deck and couldn't have been more pleased. We had a balcony cabin (1067) and will never go back to an OV. The balcony was well worth the extra expense IMO. Our cabin was only a few steps from the pool, hot tubs and Red Sail Restaurant as well as the elevator which was not a noise problem as we had feared. The balcony seemed to make the nice size room feel even more spacious and we were very satisfied with the size of the bathroom. Nothing to write home about but large enough to be comfortable.

We were also pleased with the time of year we chose. The temperatures were great and I guess it was so soon after Winter Break that not many people took their kids. We counted around a dozen on the entire ship. This was important to us because our first cruise (this was our second) was over run with kids and you could never get an elevator.

You'll love the Glory! It's a beautiful ship and St Marteen and St Thomas have got to be two of the most beautiful places on earth! Nassau on the other hand I could do without.

Hope the cabin info is helpful!

I was in a balcony cabin on the Panorama Deck as well....FABULOUS location!!I would definetly select this again! Aside from being close to everything it is also a smaller PAX hallway so there is less foot traffic.

I have found that a balcony cabin is great space wise. Personally, I have not sailed on RCCL (as earlier poster asked) but my kids have and they say that Carnival cabins/bathrooms are definetly bigger and better. The beds, by the way, are superb! Standard balcony cabins on Carnival are 180 S.F. and the balcony is an additional 35 S.F. Not sure about the bathrooms footage but the layout seemed fine for me. You can see pics of my cabin on the Glory in my photo link below. in the Tuesday - Carnival Glory Cruise, Belize - there is a photo of the balcony and in the Friday album there are some pics of the cabin as we packed I think.

I see most has already been answered, but I just wanted to chime in too. we did this cruise in March and the ship was unbelieveable. Now for the down part. The cruise before us got into port about 3 hours late. That made embarkation a nightmare. We were planning on getting there right after the big early rush. Unfortunately they were just so far behind schedule it would not have mattered. So I would say just plan to get there early and be prepared to wait in line. We were in line for about 1.5 hours. As a side note, there are 2 entrances to the building each with their own security screening area. It may help to go in the entrance by the VIP entrance since some may not realize that anyone can go in that entrance.

The ports were all docked. I would suggest getting off as early as you can in Nausau since it will be a short day there. St. Thomas you will have to go through emmigration which takes a long time. The process is stream-lined very well but they give priority to guest with excursions. St. Martin is IMHO the best stop. Get off the ship early and I'd suggest renting a car at the pier and drive around the island all day. Well not literally. Drive to the beaches or wherever you want. This way you can go wherever and whenever you want. It's small enough that if you get lost you can find your way very easily. Just plan for buying gas and getting back in plenty of time to catch the ship. Oh and you may want to think about reserving your car ahead of time.

As for the ship itself. It was awesome. My 5 month old loved all the colors as we walked around the ship.

Oh and one last thing. If you like your adult beverages, they had an Irish coffee/cream layered liquour for sale on the ship in March. I would suggest getting some if they sell it again. But as a price watcher I'd say wait till after you've been to St. Martin You can find it on the island and sometimes cheaper. I have a very good supplier here in the MPLS area and I can't get that stuff here. Wish I would have bought a case.

Have a great trip, and if you can't make it and need to send someone else. I'll go in your place ;)

I couldn't agree with you more. Get a balcony!!! We paid to bump ourselves from an OV to a balcony. I only wish I would have realized earlier that we were right above the casino. So the only thing I would suggest if you get an upper room is to think about what may be below you. Every morning I was out taking pictures from our patio of the islands as we would come into each port. It was something that I will never forget being able to see and not really having to worry about going out in public. Well except for the guest in the other room. I think I scared them once when I forgot my robe. OK I am kidding. But it was nice a bunch of us in the rooms would just hang at the rail and talk. I can't see myself ever getting an interior room ever now after having been in one with a balcony. An OV room might suffice, but I do like to take a lot of pictures and spent way too much money on my camera to have that piece of glass in front of me.

have a great trip and don't forget to share your photos with us.
