Please settle an argument

My husband says that the Dig and the aquarium at Atlantis are two different things. Is he right? We only have a couple hours in the Bahamas so we're thinking of taking a taxi over to Atlantis to poke around. I know that we can't use the pools, beaches, etc(unless we get a room but we're not) so we're thinking of just walking around and checking out the Dig/Aquarium. I told him that I've heard that seeing the Dig for $29 per person isn't really worth it. He told me the Aquarium was for free. Please settle this once and for all.

What exactly is included in the $29 fee?

Are children cheaper? Mine will be 9 & 10.

we went to the dig before. The dig and the aquarium are he same ,some parts you see inside, some parts outside. If you go in the evening there will not even be anyone there to take your money,We did't have to pay. I dont tkink it would be worth the money if I had to pay.

I keep hearing that it's really not worth the money. I'm kind of torn on what to do then. We dock in the Bahamas around 8pm and leave again at noon the next day. (doesn't really give a person much time to do anything) I'd like to take a ride over to Atlantis and take some pictures though. If we head over there once we get off the ship, would we be able to walk through the Digs and take some pictures? Will it be open at that time? I heard there won't be any guards at nighttime so you probably don't have to pay, but I don't know what time they leave. Plus can you take pictures once inside the Digs? And what else would you suggest for first timers to see in the Bahamas if they only have a couple hours before heading back on the ship?

We've vacationed at Atlantis several times and I agree that $29.00 to just go through the dig is a bit much. It's nice and all, but I think people (if possible) should really try and make Atlantis a seperate vacation. There is soooooo much to do there that just a few hours is really pointless, instead maybe choose walking around the straw market downtown or strolling through the Marina village shops near Atlantis or the Marina.

I just received an email from Atlantis and the charge is $29 for adults and $23 for kids (4-12) they said to be prepared to show ID's for kids. They do not have day passes. The only areas the non guests are allowed in are: the casino, restaurants, shopping area, lobby bars, and marine village. We'll be in Nassau next week and are debating on if we should take an excursion or venture on our own. I hear that Paradise Island has a public beach, does anyone know if this is true? And is it a nice, safe beach area. If we take the Jitney do we just tell the driver we want off at the publice beach on Paradise Island? Any help will greatly help us.

Parts of "the Dig" is the name for their aquarium. Some of it is visible from the main lobby. I personally think it is worth it. It is such a judgement call. It can be copared to the cost of an excursion. Most of them are pretty pricey. You can take pictures in the Dig, plus in any public area.

IMHO there isn't much to do in Nausau. We hit the Straw Market, Hard Rock and Starbuck's while we were there.
