Dicky or not?

Recommended Posts

First time cruiser on Splendour of the seas July 24th in the Med. I have bought a nicely cut black Italian suit for formal nights instead of a Tux mainly because I can wear the suit for many other occasions.

I need an expert view whether I should still wear a dinner suit shirt and bow tie or a dress shirt and normal tie. :)

Thanks in advance.....................Ted

Hi Ted,

What's the difference between a dinner suit shirt and a dress shirt?

As to whether you should wear a bow tie or regular tie, I say either one is appropriate and wear whichever you prefer. I saw both on our cruise last week.

My husband didn't bring his tux, but brought a beautiful pinstriped DB suit with 2 elegant shirts and ties. He brought shirts with french cuffs to add to their formality.

Hiya

In my view, dinner suit shirt would be a white shirt with a special collar for a bow tie and a dress shirt is type you would wear under jacket with collar for normal tie (an elegant shirt as you described).

Thanks for advice.........Ted
