NaplesCruiser Posted July 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2006 We are sailing on the Volendam (11-3-06 to Southern Caribbean) and are looking for "Secrets, Hints, Suggestions etc." on both the Ship as well as what to do in Ports of Call (Aruba, Curacao, Dominica, St. Thomas/John). In advance, many thanks to all who respond.
3 Fan Posted July 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2006 If you want the best tour of Dominica contact "Beno". Check under Destinations for his e-mail address. He was great, wonderful tour, he loves his island and wants to show it off. Met him at 8:30AM and got back to the ship at 2:30PM. The charge was $200.00 for 4 adults. We were the only ones in the van. We'll be back in February and will use his service again. The Volendam is a beautiful ship, our favorite "dam" ship. thomasale Posted July 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2006 I will take a look at the tours now that it is getting closer. Thanks for this heads up.
Sage Posted July 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2006 We loved the thermal suite on board. They only allow a limited number of passengers to sign up for this, and most of the time, we had the place to ourselves. It's a great way to relax. Also you may want to try the Pinnacle for lunch. They have a wonderful lunch menu, and it is only $10pp. Enjoy your cruise; the Volendam is our favoirte ship.
Bodger Posted July 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2006 We were on the Volendam in March, and loved almost everything about the ship. We enjoyed the Dolphin Encounter in Curacao, the Rain Forest Aerial Tram in Dominica and swimmming with the sting rays at HMC. The only negative thing we encountered was the noise from the public address system in the dining room came through to our cabin (6217) above on the Verandah deck. I am wondering if other folks have experience with cabins on this level and noise from the dining room or the main theatre. Cabin numbers would be very helpful, we currently have a hold Cabin 6212. Thanks, Bodger
