ckrobyn Posted July 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2006 Just wondering.......... People always post the cost of an upgrade at the pier on the day of sailing, but I have rarely (if ever) seen someone post that there were actually cabins available to upgrade to? Have you been able to upgrade at the pier?
yogimax Posted July 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2006 I will ONLY accept a free upgrade. Guess that limits my possibilities!
shipknotshore Posted July 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2006 I could have checked 3 of the 4 responses (guess which one I couldn't have checked.:p ) We've got great cabins booked for both of our upcoming cruises and unless they give me a great big suite I think we'd stay put. The prices for upgrading at the pier are really quite good so I might inquire about one if my original cabin wasn't what I really wanted.
nanfromatlanta Posted July 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2006 Have never been able to upgrade for a decent price. The upgrade prices quoted have all been the same as the regular price for that category cabin. The cruise lines are no longer as generous as they once were. ckrobyn Posted July 28, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted July 28, 2006 Well it looks like most ships were sailing full - very few people that wanted upgrades were able to get them.......
rubrrick Posted July 28, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2006 The last time I remember getting a pier upgrade on RCCL was in 2003. It seems of late that most ships are running at capacity. So we pick and pay for a cabin of our choice up front. Rick
Murphy Posted July 28, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 28, 2006 Robyn, in May 2004 our friends who were traveling with us were able to upgrade from the larger interior cabins to a JS for $400 on the Legend in Hawaii. That's the last time I've sailed that our ship wasn't sold out weeks if not months ahead of time...
