Identity of Cruise Director, Concierge, etc.

This thread is the best known link to this type of information, and is assembled through the cooperation of those interested in "tracking" some of their favorite NCL staffers. If you read through you will find it is not limited to CD's, but a good spot to share info or ask questions about HD's, Concierge, F&B Mgrs., Bartenders, Captains, entertainers, Maitre D's, etc. As you mentioned, some of the best information comes from passengers who have just completed their cruise. That's a great time to post an update on the key staffers from your ship. I just checked the "hits" on this thread and it is currently at 26,316, evidence it is quite popular. When you return from your next cruise, might I suggest you file an update. Thanks!

Will do Tom.... seems like great info here. I see that you have sailed several NCL ships... How did you like the Jewel compared to the Gem & Dawn? Sailing the Jewel the first time in 2 weeks. Really loved the Dawn & Gem.

Thanks

Of course there isn't too much of a difference between these three, so if you like the Gem and Dawn, you'll like the Jewel. We've been on the Dawn 4 times, so that's kinda like home for us, and the Gem has the bowling alley which was a unique pleasure. We were on the Jewel in 2005, and unless they changed it, there was a small, semi-enclosed kids area on Deck 12 near the pool, which included a hot tub. Since we sailed to Canada in October, and not many kids were on board, it was a nice place to escape the cool weather and enjoy the hot tub, especially getting in and out.

Hi, Sailing the Jewel on May 1st, 2010. Anyone know who the CD is?

Thanks

Iain Bagshaw should be on the Jewel for your sailing. He has been on the Jewel, and doesn't transfer to the Sun until May 23rd. He is a very sweet young man from Great Britain. He seems very competent, without the hyped up attitude of some CD's. He likes to do a joke of the night before the evening show, so if you have some good ones for him, bring them to your meet and greet...he may read your joke on stage.

  • 4 weeks later...

It's been nearly a month since we've seen any action on this thread? Anyone able to post any news on where some of the great NCL staffers and entertainers are working these days? Any news or updates on staff headed to the Epic?

Thanks for anything you can share with those with a "thirst" for such info.

It appears as though Denis Prguda will be going to the Epic, after his vacation, to relieve Klaus. This should happen sometime in August.

We just got off the Star. Jean-Michel is the Hotel Director and is wonderful. Candi is the Cruise Director and is beyond wonderful. Captain Gunnar is.. well, the Captain. Ivo is, I believe, F&B? Flor is the butler and Patrick is the concierge and they're both really good. Flor is as sweet and agreeable as you can get and went above and beyond to help us. Patrick somehow always seemed to know where to find us. "Flash" Gordon was the shopping consultant, he's a great guy. If you eat at Cagney's, Try to get Ketut and Hazel as your servers, although Rocky is good, so is Garnet. The Jean Anne Ryan Company put on some great shows and if you can see Grant Sutherland singing in the Spinnaker, you're in for a treat. Second City also does a good improv show. Also make sure to check out the game shows, especially Dancing With The Stars. Chef Andreas is very personable and the Chocaholic Buffet is something to see, even if you don't want to eat chocolate you still have to see everything. Try to be in line early though.

Spirit - Prem is HD

Sky - Frank Hassenwinkel is HD, Rob Sugar is CD

Dawn - Matt Baker is CD

We were on the Dawn 5-2 and Shona was the cruise director, and Ray Ray was her assitant.

Have things changed? is this the same Matt that use to be on the Sky?

I was going on what others had posted. I'm confused.

Matt hasn't been on the Dawn in a number of years (except maybe to fill in now and again). He's still on the Sky and loves it there. Shona is the CD on the Dawn right now while John Ibrahim is taking some time off. And, Anoop is the Concierge. You go Snoop Dog!!!

About the cruise director. The Sky has a new Cruise Director named Rob Sugar.

We were going to take a short cruise on the Sky this summer but changed to the Star. One of the deciding factors was that Matt had moved to another ship.

Matt Baker is headed to the Big Apple to pick up the CD reins on the Dawn. He's so full of energy and fun he's a great match. Last time he did stints on the Spirit and Dawn up here he got glowing reviews.

I'm sure my fellow New Yorkers who have sailed with Matt before will welcome him back.
