pazandak63 Posted July 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2006 Has anyone heard of Mexico Rocks? How can we get there and what did you think of it? Karyn
Steve O Posted August 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2006 We snorkelled at Mexico Rocks a couple of years ago when we were staying on Ambergris Caye. It was very good snorkelling - but not the best in Belize. To get there from Belize City, you'd have to take the water taxi up to Ambergris - about an hour and 15 min or so, then take a boat up north of the town to Mexico Rocks. Unless you found a tour going up there, the logistics might eat up your day. Caye Caulker is closer and we've found more tours going there and the snorkelling around there can be really nice as well. If you make it to Ambergris, we took a tour with Amigos del Mar and snorkelled at Mexico Rocks and Tres Cocos; I'd definitely recommend them. 2112 Posted August 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2006 I have snorkeled at Mexico Rocks as well. The snorkeling is better at Hol Chan Park, and Hol Chan is closer too. You could get to either Hol Chan or Mexico Rocks from trips run by any of the dive shops on Ambergris Caye. To get to Ambergris Caye, you could catch a boat from Belize City or catch a short inexpensive flight from the Municipal Airport (make sure you have the taxi driver take you to the municipal airport and not the international airport). No flight reservation is needed, and the flights leave all the time.
