Leaving for the NYC Port tomorrow

WEll the day has come and we will be taking our wonderful 8 day cruise on the carnival legend.

Just a few questions:

We have a Cat 11 cabin what time do you think we need to be at the port and since we will be going in a differnt way do think they will have chairs in the area. Hurt my ankle bad.

We are parking at the port do you know if they are now taking cash only or credit cards.

My husband is concerned that we will get on the ship and we will be just standing around. Everything is open isnt it?

Thanks for answers.

Hi Lucky you! I did this cruise a few yrs back, we found that if you get to the port around 11:00 its sufficient, they have a seated waiting area, they may check all your docs and then have you wait in a sitting area til they start boarding which is usually around 12:00

As soon as you get on the ship the vacation begins, go get some lunch, all the venues are open, and then go exploring, find your room, whatever, I dont think the casino opens til your at sea.

They could possibly lend you a wheel chair, if need be for the bad ankle, ask at the pursers desk. Have a great trip! Wish I was going too!:D

We meet again! Just fininshed reading your answer to my question so I'll try to return the favor.:D

Others have covered more than I know except what my plans are 1st thing when on board: Supper Club Reservation is Job #1; plan on going to the actual restaurant to pick our table, though we may chicken out and just grab one from the table they supposedly have set up in the atrium. Never did get a concrete answer on whether the reservations made in the atrium show you what tables you can choose from.

Job #2 is confirming seating in Truffles.

Job #3 is taking the world's biggest sigh, cracking the world's biggest grin, and tracking down a waiter for long cool drink.

Hope you do ok with the ankle. I'd offer you a crutch or cane (I had knee surgery years back) but they got tossed/sold at a yard sale:(

I'd recommend some painkillers though ;). From what I read on that BVI board, they're just what the Dr. ordered.

Ive sailed the Legend 2 years in a row. I just sailed the Valor 2 weeks ago. Your gonna love the Legend.

Get there by 11am..There are chairs and they call them by row. The Lido deck is open for lunch when you arrive.

Have a fantastic time.

11 am should be fine. If your ankle is bad and you're using a cane, you'll probably be offered a wheelchair ride on board. Take it. You'll get on first and be taken right to your cabin. With category 11 you should already have priority boarding, but the wheelchair is even better.

Take your painkillers and muscle relaxants. It's harder getting around on the ship than you might at first think. The Legend is great and you should love this cruise. We've done it two years in a row and expect to do it again next year with our daughter and son in law.

The Skippers club is a joke in NY.

You get diverted AFTER security, so the LONG line is still there to wait on, and it's a 33.3% chance you'll get the seated area.

Also, the desk is shared with wheelchair people. So, if you're in line, and there is someone in a wheelchair, they will attend them before you as well.

We literally boarded the ship AFTER those that were BEHIND us in the security line.

They can keep their Skippers Club.

I would check the peir cam just to make sure the boat is in on time. If it's late for some reason just leave that much later.

I always arrive btwn 11:30 and 12 (assuming the boat's on time). I just walk right through, no lines, no sitting. Have a great time:)
