Best Guides for Ephesus & Herculaneum

Recommended Posts

We will be on a cruise that is stopping in Kusadasi and Sorrento. We would love to find very good guides for Ephesus and Herculaneum. We have stopped at these places several times before and have been disappointed with the quality of our guides.

Our idea of a good guide is someone who has studied and can articulate the complete history of these sites. In Turkey, especially, we don't want someone who is going to insist that we stop at his cousin's rug shop on the way and have some tea.

Any help would be appreciated.

We used Ekol Travel in Kusadasi ... had a WONDERFUL guide ... also a guide-in-training --- a driver and a minibus for the 7 of us. VERY reasonable half day tour included all admissions. We went were WE wanted to go and stayed as long as WE wanted. We did stop at a rug weaving school ... not because we had to ... and found it to be very interesting (also, no high pressure sales pitches).
