daryleann Posted July 31, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2006 A poster said we would pay the park fee if we entered the park. I would like to take the shuttle that goes to the Sand Beach and Thunder Hole, then take the one that goes to Jordan Pond (for obvious reasons - yum!). Is there a way to only pay the fee once... a stamp or something? (I am assuming we wil have to return to town to get the second one) Thanks for any advice. SailBadtheSinner Posted August 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2006 When you start on the park loop road that is one way, you will pay the entrance fee. You will go to Sand Beach and get off. You board a later bus that takes you to Thunder Hole and you are still on the one way park road and you can get off there. Now for the return to BH, you board another bus. The park loop road bus is #3. You pay only one entrance fee at the start of the one way portion of the loop road. You will have to ride the #3 all the way back to BH where you will pick up the bus for Jordan Pond. To get to Jordan Pond, at the BH town green board an outbound bus #5; it does not go on the park loop road – no entrance fee. From JP, board a bus #5 inbound to BH. JP is located on a portion of the 2 way roads in the park. daryleann Posted August 1, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted August 1, 2006 Thanks for the info. I have the map and knew the buses were different, just didn't know where they collected the fee. Now, let's hope for a nice day!
judynorth Posted August 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2006 Daryle Ann, you should get a Golden Eagle Passport. It is good for life and give you free entrance to all national parks. I think it costs about $25 and you only really need one for the 2 of you because it works for everyone in the car.
daryleann Posted August 3, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted August 3, 2006 We have one!:o Keep forgetting that BH is in the US - it won't work in the places we are also looking, Halifax, Cape Breton, etc... Wonder how it will work on the shuttle?
judynorth Posted August 3, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2006 I imagine that you will just have to show the pass to get in for free. That is what we plan to do anyway. I hope that we just need one like the ranger in Alaska said.
