Cozumel - So many Questions????

We have just booked the Conquest that will have us in Cozumel Dec. 22. I am having a really tough time deciding what to do for an excursion. I would REALLY like to swim with the dolphins but DD will be 18 days shy of being 8. I have considered the Dolphin encounter, but I am really wondering if it would be worth the $$$$. It just seems like alot of money for a little interaction. If we do this I would like to book privately and I really don't know the best place to start. I am also a little scared about getting back to the ship on time, am I just a little too paranoid???? If we do the dolphin encounter, will there also be a little time left for shopping before we have to tender back? In my happy place we could do the dolphin swim for a reasonable price and still have time for a little shopping, not too sure if this is possible though....

Thank-you for any advice you can offer...

You can do this booking directly or through an operator other than the ship...

This is done at Chankanaab park...http://www.cozumelparks.com.mx/eng/about-about.asp

Alot will depend on which interaction you choose and what times they have available...not to mention how long your ship is in Czm.

Your 8 year old will love this....my now, 13yo nephew did this at 9 and still talks about it!Some kids get a little frightened at first but do have a blast.

You can easily get a taxi to the park from any of the piers and back again...so 1 less thing to worry about.

By december they are supposed to have the sea lion program also open at the park.

Hope this helps ease your planning panic!
