Playing the Game Carnival Cruise Line Tycoon 2005: Island Hopping

Recommended Posts

I have been playing the game and and I'm "hooked!" .

Right now, I am trying the "Challenges" option to learn about the different areas of the game and have completed the first two. I'm am now working on the 3rd challenge (increasing the reputation score), but have run into a glitch. I can't seem to figure out how to "fix" areas that are about to collapse (ie: spinning circle with wrench inside) . I have made sure to have maintenence rooms available, but that doesn't seem to fix all of the problems. Can't have cabins and restaurants collapsing....my reputation will be ruined and I'll never get to move up the Ship Captain's ladder :D

I am new to simulation gaming, but couldn't resist this one. What do I need to do when it says that I am running low on cash and I need to make money? I have bars, restaurants, cabins, and shops. How else can I make money? I also have the wrench in the circle....we need help with that one. I have found some cheats on the internet, but haven't had a chance to try them yet. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh good...I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one new to this type of game. I'm not sure how to make more money either. What I've been doing as a "stop gap" is adding cabins while sailing and then booking them when arriving at a new port. Gives me money to work with temporarily  ....Obviously, I would not be good at running the real Carnival Corp.

Where did you all find this game? Any stores have it, is it new? I LOVE sims!

I did see lots of hints and cheats, for those needing help on the web. Just put the game title in the search window and click.

Just the thing to while away the last 2 weeks before my cruise!

I heard that folks were getting it at Best Buy. I ordered online at http://www.EBgames.com. It cost more online, so if you have a Best Buy, you can get it for $19.95. The graphics are much better than the regular cruise ship tycoon ( which I never got to play but twice due to illness) The 2005 Carnival version looks like so much fun. Can't wait to start playing for real. I have just been practicing to see what it has. Not saving anything yet until I know the game better.

I have been playing this for quite some time. Remember to make plenty of cruise quarters around the ship to keep the workers happy and from getting too tired. Upgrade ports when you can. It increases the stops your ships will make. When you get to Conquest class, you can make casinos and the money really comes pouring in. Upgrade those cabins too! They make more lots more money when booked!

On the map menu (the sailaway button) you will see 2 or 3 boxes at the upgradeable ports. When you have a ship there, you can click on one of those boxes, and upgrade. This can be done in any mode. The next ship up costs about $20,000 but you should make at least $8000 more to pay for rooms on the next ship. When you finally get up to Conquest Class, They cost much more!

Remeber to sail away from ports as soon as you are fully booked. DO NOT build too much stuff at sea! This causes the repair men to spend all thier time building rooms while other places start rotting! Also check that your other ships are repaired when you have the money. Never let repairs drop below 20%. I have tried the cheat codes online, but the ship sinks every time I try them and ruins your current game.

I sail the Glory in a month! I'm ready to see the real thing now! I love that game.

It is a great game but it is rather funny too... like how many bathrooms DO you need? LOL I swear for 100 guests these people either drink like fish or have been eating at those sleezy taco stands in ports.

The other funny thing is with so many cruise quarters you have so little space to build. Nothing really like the real ship where you only see staff quarters tendering off the boat. So I have found that part a bit hard to get used to.

Still it is fun and I amhooked. What better way to while all my free time away, than to build the Paradise... right? Least till I can get ON it!

There is a cheat code for unlimited money...for those wishing to spend with abandon... just a warning the peeps are never happy even when you build really nice ships...

The key for this.. WARNING DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE!

*

*

*

*

To enable it.. while the ship is sailing type IAmACheater (it is case and space sensitive)

Then hit CTRL+SHIP+ * (this is not the one over the 8, it is one the numeric pad above the number 9)

Good luck and Happy sailing!

Hold it down and watch the money pour in. You can build a great ship for several hundred grand.

Well.....

I'd be hooked on playing the game, too...

As long as it was a 'private' island..

Or a good feel for the population of any 'other' island!

I ain't 'that' particular!!

ROFLMAO
