PittsburghTerri Posted August 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2006 My husband and I booked our own airfare and so we have not arranged for transfers through Oceania. Should I arrange transfer with them? Does anyone know the best way for us to get to Gatwick for a 12:30 p.m. flight? How far is Dover from Gatwick? We had thought we would meet another couple on the ship and "share a ride" to the airport, but now I think we need to do something in advance. Hope someone out there can help us......thanks in advance. We leave on the 11th so please reply quickly!
orchestrapal Posted August 4, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2006 We use totallyairports.com every year for London airport transfers. They are very good at what they do and not overly expensive. Good luck.:)
The Wild Hanlons Posted August 4, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2006 You can get a cab from the ship to Dover Priory Station (about 10 minutes). There are two trains per hour from Dover Priory Station to London Victoria Station. The trip takes about 2 hours. At Victoria Station, take the Gatwick Express to Gatwick Airport. This should take about 30 minutes, and a train leaves every 15 minutes. This probably sounds complicated but it is actually very easy. Travel like the locals. You'll have more fun and save money too. shoshona2 Posted August 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2006 Hi Pittsburgh Terri, First have your TA call Oceania and see if they will let you take their transport to the Airport and how much it is. Then, contact a transport service such as totallyairports.com and find our how much they want. Then, you can make a decision. I love to take trains, but if you have to get to the airport to catch your flight, you would be a nervous wreck. It is a two hour ride to London from Dover. If anyone else out there is on our ship and headed to Gatwick-please email me directly at terri50@aol.com.
PittsburghTerri Posted August 4, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted August 4, 2006 Thanks, but I think we won't have enough time to do all that, especially with all the luggage. I will contact my TA now and then the website.
