rcflyer Posted August 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2006 I had hoped to arrive early, it heightens the sense of anticipation. We are due to check in at 1pm. Can we drop off luggage early ? and is there anywhere to wait ? Thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks. David.
jbailey Posted August 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2006 I dropped my luggage off at about 11:00 am and then went back to town to use the internet cafe in the shopping area. If it were me, I would drop luggage off and go visit the Maritime Museum or walk the old town walls. There is a place to wait but not much to do there. You will be very bored. Better to spend your time elsewhere. Even if you could board early, the ship is pretty empty because most of the crew will have taken a few hours off. There is plenty of time to explore later. mufi Posted August 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2006 I would not agree that there is nothing to do if you board early. Although you are due to board at 1pm, if you arrive earlier you will get aboard with less hassle than in the rush later on, and with a bit of luck you will have time for lunch and unpacking and a look round before boat drill. We boarded around mid day and got the crossing off to a grand start. David.
stephen@stoneyard.co.uk Posted August 6, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2006 Last year we could checkin from 1PM but boarding did not start 2PM. They boarded priority passengers first (grill grade, platinum world club and wheelchairs). I would bring a good book. We arrrived at 1:50PM and the queues were very long. Be prepared for a long wait. Best wishes, Stephen. PS Have lunch before you board.
transat_jon Posted August 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2006 When on QE2 last month, boarding started at 2:15pm. We were in the second group of 50 on board. jbailey : can you drop luggage off before check in has started, or does check in start by 11am (I always thought it was 12pm)?
