This bar setups are for spirits and available only precruise.

 

Bubbly just pick up the cabin phone and they will bring a bottle or two every day ;) :D

No real reason to set up pre cruise. What you don't care to bring can be obtained onboard. Cranberry juice at the buffet in the morning bring a couple glasses back for the fridge. Cans of soda can be ordered from room service , any bar or picked up in port. Orange, grapefruit, and tomato free on the room service menu.

 

The simple truth the bar setup for the most part is nothing more then a 1 liter bottle of spirits.

Get the facts correct before you do your math.

 

Bar Stup 1 liter - 34 oz. - or 30 drinks - yes they use a shot glass.

 

Jack Daniels 5.75 plus 15% onboard = 6.60 per drink

 

Payback 58/6.60 = 9 drinks and you still have at least 20 more in your bottle

 

By the drink the bottle would cost around $198 far more then a couple bucks:eek:

You mean to tell me if I order a jack on the rock, they will pour me 1 oz? Unless NCL sanded down their shot glasses, a standard bartending shot glass is 2 oz. (and usually the barkeeps let it over flow over ice. Also, the last time I checked, a Jack-and-coke is made with 2oz of whiskey. I know because my friend is a bartender. google jack and coke

Please give me the name of your bar - never seen a 2 oz bar shot glass except those used to serve specialty shots that are in fact mixed drinks, ( tended bar for 7 years) I have seen a jigger/gill 1.5 oz. Standard bar shot glass line is 1 oz. Some are 3/4 oz to the line and 1 oz to the rim to make you feel like you are getting more. I allowed for over pour by only getting 30 drinks to the liter. Call it 28 or 25 for a short lived bartender as his inventory will not balance long and the bar setup still has a very short payback period

 

 

If you want 2 oz in your Jack & Coke - order a double or have a friend pour it;)

Outlook positive - the Wind is not an NCLA ship, offers duty free, and should allow you to order a bar setup

The answer I received from my email to Passenger Courtesy for NCLA was that passenger cabin bar setups are not allowed on the NCLA US flagged ships. They did say that I could purchase by the shot in the bars. Bummer!

Shoreguy, your calculations were exactly correct. We just got off the Majesty last sunday and my Dad drinks Jack on the rocks. The price was as you quoted, plus he threw in a dollar tip so the bartender would be close by when he needed a refill. LOL!

 

The bartenders were certainly NOT generous with the booze in the cocktails. You could tell it was measured carefully. Not like a neighborhood bar.

 

A bottle of Jack in the cabin saved my Dad a lot of money.

Can anyone tell me what the pre-arranged bar set up costs on the Norwegian Sun? We are sailing on Nov. 05,2006 out of New Orleans.

 

We have two couples going and are probably going to share a bar set up,if it will save us a few dollars. Also, what happens when the liquor runs out, what is the charge to restock the bar?

I had seen an earlier discussion about bar setups on the Norwegian cruises. I called the lattitude line yesterday (got thru after about a 2 minute wait) and got the email address as to who to contact for a bar set up on the Dawn (sailing 9-16-06). I emailed the contact yesterday, she called me this morning, I emailed her after we talked with the info she wanted and sha bam:)it was done. This included alcohol and can drinks such as cokes, diet 7-up, etc. Alcohol was $55 and can drinks $2.20 each for whatever amount you wanted. This will be good for cocktails while preparing to go out or sitting on balcony. You do pay immediately however by debit or credit card but they said you cannot get a bar setup unless you do it in advance. You can buy bottle of wine on board for room though. Very easy and very good service! Yahoo!!
