Embarking and disembarking w/limited mobility

I will be having back surgery next week. Doctor says I may be fine by my December cruise. I am not concerned with walking around on the ship. I am concerned about standing in line, etc. and walking up the gangway. Also, the same in reverse for disembarking. Do they have wheelchairs I might be able to use at the pier?

yes they do have wheelchairs at the pier to get you aboard, and for disembarking, but you need to make them aware of your needs. if you are concerned about walking around the ship being too strenuous, you need to think about providing your own wheelchair because most cruise lines will no longer provide their wheel chairs from the medical department for going ashore in various ports. suggest you get in touch with the special needs department of your cruise line and discuss your needs with them.:)
