Suite Amenities??

Recommended Posts

Are you referring to a Category C or Category D balcony cabin? RCCL now calls category C on their Vision class ships a Junior Suite. The Splendour is a Vision Class ship and I didn't realize they were doing the Hawaii run.

The basic difference between a plain balcony and a suite on a Vision class ship is that you will get priority embarkation and debarkation with a suite; you will also receive robes, priority tender tickets, and special amenities (lotions, bath gel, etc.), and a larger cabin and balcony.

On the Radiance Class ships (Radiance, Serenade, Brilliance, Jewel) they also offer concierge service to those in a suite. Very, very nice. Free happy hour, continental breakfast, assistance in obtaining reservations in the alternative restaurants, priority everything. Definitely a plus.

Are you sure it is the Splendour doing Hawaii???????The Legend of the Seas maybe........that is also a Vision Class ship.

And to correct something.........there is NO concierge lounge on any of the Vision Class ships.........cctexan is correct that this is offereded on the Radiance Class Ships.

We had a category C before RCCL revoked the 'lounge' privledges and did not receive any ammenities beyond the lounge access. We're tempted to book a B or higher on the next cruise, but will wait and see what prices do since RCCL won't have any newbuilds for another year or so. Have a great time!

Thank you for the responses :)

ISUJIM, yes it's only in October or September, but I'm sorry, it the SPLENDOR OF THE SEAS, my mistake. It's their repositioning cruise from Alaska. The go from Alasaka to Vancouver and then to Hawaii, and then it's back to the Hawaii to Mexico itinerary, until they reposition and do the Hawaii to Vancouver one time a year, I beleive my TA said May or June?? I'd have to double check.

I hear the Radiance class of ships is really nice :)

Most suite perks come only with Cat B or A. Cat C junior suites only get you a larger cabin, suite check in and double cruise credit. If you are on a ship with concierge service, that starts with cat B.

My first ever cruise was last November on the Brilliance with 2 friends and we booked a Grand Suite. Very nice it was too. Lots of room, bath and shower, two washbasins (handy when the loo is busy), free lotions and stuff, priority embarkation and disembarkation, priority tendering on the days where tenders were used (e.g. Grand Cayman). We'd come back to the suite at night and find trays of chocolate dipped strawberries and the like and of course there's the fantastic Concierge Lounge. The Concierge was Brett and he couldn't do enough for us, really made my first cruise very special indeed. Unfortunately on my next cruise I've had to forego the Suite in favour of 2 D-Class cabins so no Concierge Lounge etc. The annoying thing is that it's cost me more overall but as it's split into 2 cabins then no extras. :(

Hey, Momtobradley, I am really confused. According to the RCCL web site AND their brochure, the Splendour of the Seas does not do Alaska or Hawaii this year. She will either be in Europe, or doing a transatlantic during the time frame you mentioned. You might better check with your TA to verify what ship they booked you on.

Good luck with your cruise.:)

I think it is on the 10th deck (where all the suites are!) somewhere near the elevator center. Convenient for most of the people who have access because they're in a suite. Not so convenient perhaps for some of the people who have access because of their diamond C & A status!

have fun!

The Concierge Lounge is indeed on deck 10 on the Port side right next to the lift (elevator) shaft. It's not huge but more homely. It has a bar with coffee machine behind which you can use in the morning and some comfy seating. It also has internet access. At night it has a free bar and some hors d'ouvres including a hot tray with stuff like scallops and bacon or beef satay, very nice. Have fun, I know I did. Shug.

Is this Lounge on all of the RCI ships?

Rhapsody?

Unfortunately not on the Rhapsody. Here is what Sally R had to say in an earlier April post.....

"We have stayed in a Grand Suite on the Vision which I believe would be identical (to the Rhapsody). We really enjoyed it. There was no concierge lounge but it really didn't matter. We had a party for some of our Cruise Critic friends and room service took care of everything. Even sent housekeeping to clean up after. We had about 25 people and it was not crowded. The balcony is huge! The cabin is very nicely laid out. We enjoyed having the bed by the windows. Also used the dry bar a lot. Our cabin steward rang the doorbell (yes, you have a door bell!) and we didn't know what it was. The bath is real nice with marble and plenty of room. Lots of storage everywhere. We had a 25" TV and VCR. Free videos if you ask your steward. There are gifts delivered every day from the different concessions (casino, spa, etc,) and usually consist of canapes or sweets. We have had Owner's suites but will always book a Grand if available, just like them better.

Enjoy yourself but just know that you will be forever spoiled!"

We sailed a Transatlantic on the Splendour almost 2 years ago. We had a cat c, some friends of ours had a B and other friends had an A.

Have to say that on the Splendour, you are wasting cash to upgrade to a suite. The A category, was just a larger room. It had a sectional couch but it didn't even have matching upholstery. I've seen suites on many ships and for the most part, if you have the cash they are wonderful. I wouldn't say that about the splendour. They just aren't very . . .nice. . .

I would love to hear from someone who has recently stayed in a suite on what exactly they received and the level of service. Especially on The Serenade. We have a GS booked for Jan. and would love to entertain in our room. I thought if I wanted chocolate covered strawberries I had to pay for them? Do they bring horderves to your room every night?

Stayed in a GS in May/June on the Jewel of the Seas. We got some goodies every day from he room service. It usually came between 2-4pm.

Some examples of things we got:

Chocolate covered strawberries

Croissants

Brownies

Cheese plate

Fruit plate

Vegetable plate with dip

Truffles

Canapes

Can´t remember everything we got right now but it was different every day.
