Travelling from Livorno to Florence

We are going on a cruise in August and want to travel independently from Livorno to Florence. How do we get hold of train timetables from Livorno to Florence? How easy is it to do? How much are taxis from Florence Train station to the centre of town. I have mobility problems and need to avoid prolonged walking. Any other information would be gratefully received.:) :)

If y'all have driven abroad before, Italy's pretty easy. It's a little tricky getting in/out of Florence (parking is terrible, the general recommendation is the train station garage, which we did). Otherwise, driving gives you max flexibility & reduces most of the hassles, esp. if you are mobility-impaired. We rented from Hertz--they were right there on the pier when we stepped off the ship, and we returned at the pier, as well. Avis was there, also.
