7SeasLover Posted August 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2006 At long last, the travel docs have arrived for a cruise I booked 375 days before sailing. Seems like it took forever to arrive. I will meet my TA tomorrow and pick up everything. Coincidentally, the foreign currency for Europe and Turkey also arrived. My gosh, what PRETTY money! It feels like Monopoly money! I ordered Lira to tide us over during our 3 pre-cruise days in Istanbul, and Euros to cover all of the private tours we arranged. For everything else I'll whip out a credit card or get more Euros at a bank or ATM For those who've just gotten off the Jewel, what was the exchange rate the ship offer for currency exchange? Too bad our dollar isn't doing so well in EU. Not too bad in Turkey though. 40 days and our trip starts. 5 days later we'l be on the Jewel. Our cruise critic group is about 26 strong now. We have a get-together dinner planned on Tuesday night - the day we sail, and a meet and greet in a Garden Villa. We got our Visas and all that's left to do is pack and leave! This is way cool. I love cruising! I have never been on the Jewel and I'm looking forward to it.

derf5585 Posted August 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2006 YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! hmmmmmmmmmm I had better start looking at some last minutes cruises, I'd never be able to wait too long.....Have a SUPER trip!:D WARNING: Doc Dancing could be Hazardous to your health !!! “Doc Dance” Sends Two to Hospital; Injures Many LYNOT REALSON STAFF REPORTER A cruise document dance turned catastrophic yesterday morning after a missed step caused a traffic disaster. Emergency crews were called to 325 Dundas St. West where Mary Robbins, an avid cruiser, was struck by a passing auto after her traditional celebration dance for the arrival of her cruise documents went terribly wrong. “She was jumping around, having a great time,” a bystander says, “when she tripped on a large crack in the sidewalk, and fell into oncoming traffic. It was horrible.” The driver of the suspect auto was also injured, when he steered into two other cars, trying to avoid Robbins. This caused six other cars to come crashing into the scene, leaving many with bumps and cuts, but no other serious injuries. Robbins’ family told The Star: “She won’t be doing the doc dance ever again. She has definitely learned her lesson. We just hope her injuries fully heal in time for her September sailing on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship.” Robbins suffered from a broken arm, and the driver of the vehicle suffered two broken ribs. 7SeasLover Posted August 26, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted August 26, 2006 Thank you SO much for the doc dancing warning! This couldn't have come at a better time, as I am meeting my TA in a park and ride off the 10 Fwy in busy Southern California! This warning has stopped what could have been a bloody catastrophe as Southern Califonria park and rides are more hazardous than our infamous freeways! Phew! I'm so relieved to have received this warning. I'd replace doc dancing with a huge wide grin, but the PS went a bit overboard with the botox and alas just a sexy smile is all I can manage! I hope to send regular updates from my laptop live from mini 11152 as I sit on my balcony with a 100% unobstructed view sipping chilled wine and eating chocolate dipped strawberries! Hoooo mama! I'm so ready!
