Carnival Spirit

Just returned from Alaska Southbound (8/16-23). Cannot say enough about the ship and their staff. The only issue was that we brought mostly wintery clothes but could have worn shorts/capris on sailing days and while inside on the ship. It was quite warm. Also the clubs were very warm. The shows were average - nothing to brag about.

We ate breakfast most mornings in the dining room and the omelets and french toast were good. We also always had fresh fruit. The build your own burgers in the dining room for lunch were out of this world. Our waiters for dinner were very accomodating. A couple of nights we weren't crazy about the menu so got a filet instead. Always cooked perfectly. The salads left a little to be desired. Also the dining room temperature was comfortable - not freezing.

Our room steward seemed to have ESP - everytime we left our room - even if only for a short time- he came in and straightened up and put out fresh towels. He was always very prompt when called.

The lounges had good entertainment but closed a little early for us (midnight) so we spend the rest of the evening in the casino.

We found the ship to be very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable and our cabin (balcony stateroom) was very roomy with plenty of storage.

The only negative was that we had to wait 45 minutes at the Vancouver airport for our luggage to arrive from the ship.

We love the Spirit class ship. We did the Southbound in 2005 and had the best cabin steward (Amporn) that we have ever had. We did the Pride in March and are headed out on the Miracle (her sister ship) in October. We can't wait.

The Spirit sails to Hawaii a few times a year in the late spring and fall - all summer it sails to Alaska. From about late October to early April it sails to the Exotic Mexican Riviera to Acuplulco, Ixtapa, and Manzanillo.

Which is where we we are heading on the March 31st sailing! ;) :D ;)
