Change Pvp Who Gets Commission

Doug&Suzy-Q

Recommended Posts

I have already booked a 2007 cruise with a deposit only & an assigned room.

I am not pleased with my current PVP. If I change PVP's now, who will get the commission?

I want to be fair, but I can't see dealing with my new PVP for another year.

On my 2007 booking, I did all the leg work, so it's not like she spent a lot of time with me...a total of like 10 minutes in 2 phone conversations.

Help & opinions please:confused:

I believe the original Vacation Planner will get the commission, but at least what I have been told, the 2nd VP it will received some sort of credit for handling the booking.

I usually book with a particular Carnival Vacation Planner, Lauren Rich, but she was out one day & I wanted to take advantage of a special pricing. I told the CVP my situation & hoped they would split the commission. I don't believe that was the case (in fact Lauren is so sweet the issue of commission was never clear to me - I got the impression they receive maybe a monthly bonus on how many cruises they book). I was also told if even if I call an on-line agency for info & they take my name - but I don't book with them & go directly to Carnival - that they are entitled to some commission. Again, this is just my understanding & I could be wrong. What if you cancelled your reservation & then just rebooked with the person you like better - unless you strongly want the room you choose & don't want to take a chance on losing it.

Carnival PVPs don't work on commission sales; they work on incentives for promotions, etc. So, whomever you booked with has already rec'd their 'points' for your booking. Changing now would not benefit a new PVP.

Y'know - any PVP can look up your cruise on the computer and answer any questions you have - you don't have to stick with the same one. Just call Carnival 800 number and ask for a PVP - you can speak with anyone who answers.:)

......Hi Lynell - I realize you're new (welcome!). Donna's correct. Read Cruise Critic rules. No names of agents or agencies allowed, not even PVPs.

My apologies! Thought of that after I hit submit. I get so used to making the PVP's name & Carnival synonymous whenever anyone asks about cruising that it becomes a habit. At least you people were kind in the manner of bringing it to my attention. Much appreciated.

:) I know I'd love to share my PVP (several cruises through her), but just can't do it. Some folks ask for private emails about PVPs or other agencies, but that's not allowed either. Anything else - ask away! There are some very knowledgable folks here ready to help.

PVP make outbound calls. The only inbound calls they make are from guest that have been contacted by the PVP. When you call 1-800 Carnvial you are speaking with a Cruise Vacation Specialist (CVS). They do the same job only the PVP makes outbound calls and the CVS takes inbound calls from 1-800-Carnival.

Hi Cotton,

I know this is off the subject but I did not know how else to contact you. I am cruising out of NOLA in December & have searched everywhere, web,CC & NOLA'S site but could not find info about taking the #2 riverfront trolley to the cruise port from our hotel. We are staying at Harrah's new hotel on Canal St. I was in NOLA the year before the hurricane hit & saw the cruise ship docked outside the RIVERWALK MALL so I thought where you boarded could not be to far from the hotel. In fact is it possible to walk to the terminal ?? Or would we be better off just taking a cab ? Any advice you can give would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advavce.

Cancel your current booking and book with someone else. By the way, when I call to speak to a PVP, thats all I get, just the booking part and thats it. I mostly do their work and Im happy with it.

Here on the cruise Critic site there are many TA's adds. Look at the top of the page, click on bargains. Also as each page opens on the boards, there is a space where 2 or 3 companies advertise. visit them and get their phone #s. You must talk to them, not just look at their sites.

Since you have already booked and have cabin # and price, ask the TA's what they can do for you. One or more WILL beat Carnival's price [only in a telecon] Then you could go thru Carnival and change the booking to the TA. Thus eliminating your PVP AND saving some money on the same booking.

I thought that's how it worked. But didn't want to question it and step on anyone's toes. Y'know da rules! ;)
