Sarasota

We are planning on staying a week in this area after our cruise. We want to stay half way between Tampa and Sanibel. We are planning on visiting Siesta Key beach area and doing some shelling on Sanibel Island. What areas are nice neighborhoods with good hotels no more than $100 PN? Also we are planning on renting a boat to go the the groves and waterways. Any sdvice on where to go and what to see.

Anywhere along the beach is nice. Most of sarasota is very nice as it's a more up to do place. They do have a ghetto, but it's mainly the city area and down by MLK.
