Credit Card

Having just pre-booked excursions on 3 different islands with Carnival (with a credit card)I got to wondering with the threat of hurricans this time of year how they will handle it if some of them are cancelled. Is it their responsibility to credit it back to the credit card co.? Or maybe the sign and sail card?

Just something to think about.

Another question... they say they will put a hold on the credit card... how much is the hold? Or does it mean that the credit card is not available for use for shore excursions? And how fast is the hold removed? I have some after cruise reservations depending on the credit card ie car rental deposits...

From Carnival's FAQ:

 

What is the cancellation and refund policy in the event of bad weather or unexpected circumstances?spacer.gif

Certain excursions have minimum guest participation requirements and shore excursions may be cancelled or modified depending on the number of guests participating. In the event of cancellation or modification of an excursion, best efforts will be made to provide advance notice. Shore excursions may be cancelled by Carnival or the Tour Operator due to inclement weather conditions, or any other reason whatsoever. Full refunds will be made to guests who purchased cancelled excursions. If the shore excursions are cancelled prior to the sailing, you will receive a refund directly to the credit card used to pay for the shore excursion order. If the shore excursions are cancelled while onboard, the amount of the refund will be credited to your shipboard account.

Credit card holds can take up to 10 days to come off. When you secure your S&S with the credit card, they will place a hold of $250 on your card. When your S&S balance reaches $250, they will place another $250 hold, etc. So the holds they place on your card will not be available to you when you get off the ship.
