Visited Crane Beach back in 1989, it was a gorgeous beach at bottom of a rock cliff. On top there was a hotel where we had a great lunch.

Will be back to Barbados in winter 2007.. Am looking for anybody with a more recent trip to Crane Beach.. How is the taxi service to and from the beach? Any other info concernig the beach or hotel?

Also big fan of Mount Gay rum.. Any info on a distillery tour?

We were there in April 2005. I believe cab fare was $35USD each way. The cab driver dropped us off and showed us a way to the beach without going through the hotel. He asked what time to come get us and he came back and was about half an hour early and told us no rush to leave. The beach was still beautiful and not overly crowded. My friend did spot a jellyfish or two in the water, the small ones that sting real good.

Things have really changed since 1989. The hotel is now alot larger with tall buildings surrounding the original old hotel but the most important thing that hasn't changed is the beach :) - imho it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and when you stand on that cliff over looking it u really feel like your the "King of the World"!! You can check out the new look of the hotel at http://www.thecrane.com/ there is a 12.50 charge to go thru the hotel and its fully redeemable at the restaurant but you cant use the pool area or lounge chairs. Not sure what the taxi will be but another poster mentioned it. There is also a public entrance at the other end of the beach to the hotel, only downfall (literally) is that you have to step on big boulders to get to the beach.
