Doolittle912 Posted September 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2006 My husband and I will be cruising Carnival's Destiny at the end of this month. We'll be stopping in Dominica and are trying to decide if we should book a tour or just walk around the port and take a cab somewhere. For those recommending a tour, should we book through Carnival or a private company? TIA!
stprdi Posted September 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2006 We booked the rainforest tour through the ship. The island is very different to what I had thought,. There really isn't very much to hang around and shop at. There is a very small market that is set up daily for the benefit of the tour ship. YOu need some sort of guide and transport to see anything. The rainforest tour was amazing and we had an awesome young man as our guide. You feel quite special there, almost like you are an intruder. Something to behold. momtorres Posted September 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2006 Do a tour, it is worth the time. There is not much to see otherwise. Even if you don't decide until you get to the port, there are loads of tour vans lined up hoping you will decide to join them. Just walk out to the pier and your will easily see how it works. pholter Posted September 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2006 Definitely do a tour or you'll miss the beauty of the island and wonder what we all keep talking about! The only thing at the port are a few booths with crafts and t-shirts, etc. It's a little overwhelming when you walk off the pier because there are probably 100 tour operators trying to get your business. Consider booking Reynold of Reyno Tours: reynotours@hotmail.com He's awesome, his guides are fantastic, and his prices are right, too :)
