Coffee grinder/maker on the Sun?

I have a question about coffee machines available on the Sun. We are partial to coffee of Starbucks quality, though it sometimes is a bit strong if drunk black. I always bring along a pound or two of coffee beans wherever we travel, along with a coffee grinder, and on a cruise we can drink coffee fresh from the grinder and maker, sitting on the balcony at dawn. When we were on the Pride of America I discovered their coffee machines at the outdoor buffet, which had one setting that would grind and brew a cup at a time--the machines at the inside buffet would not do this. Does the Sun have such machines? Or will I have to grind beans every time I want a really good cup?

Most likely, if there is a grinder it is a blade grinder (eeww... http://www.coffeeam.com/grindingcoffee.html).

So why not grab http://www.coffeeam.com/lapavburgrin.html, grind the beans yourself and use the in-cabin coffee maker (which is probably a drip maker, eeww again so get a vacuum brewer http://www.coffeeam.com/bodsancofmak.html) next thing you do is set up shop out of your cabin w/ the best coffee on the ship (except for the suites) and sell out of your cabin... that is untill NCL discovers you and asks you nicely to leave the ship.

That's true, but I'd still like to know if the Sun includes the grind-and-brew machine. I'm not going to take a burr mill along, just my blade grinder which does a fair-to-middling job for brewing coffee in our cabin at dawn. Anyone know if the Sun has the machine?

And, BTW, I take along a french press for the brewing; only use the room coffeemaker for heating water (filtered).

Mmm french press is good, but I still like vacuums. I'm on the Sun in OCT, so I don't know yet if there's a grinder, and I see that you're on it before me. Sorry I can't be of any real help.

I agree--vacuum is great too. If you use a blade grinder for french press you have to be really careful to pulse it and watch the grain size--any daydreaming and you've got opaque coffee!

Thanks for responding--and have a great cruise! Anxious to see what the waterfront looks like in the Big Easy.
