Taking children from another family

You will NEED a notarized letter from both parents giving you permission to take both children out of the country on the ship etc. You MAY need a notarized letter giving you authorization to permit medical care (medical power of attorney) for the children for the duration of the cruise. I would pad both dates by a week in both directions, just in case something happens. The permission form mentioned by taszmom should do BOTH, but check and see and be sure.

Know that if Mexico is in your itinerary, it might be wise for the kids to have passports. They won't need them for the cruise, but if you and they miss the ship, you will have to deal with Mexican immigration. Having a passport makes this painless. In any event, you always have recourse to the embasy of your county of citizenship. I have done this three times with nieces and nephews. It was a blast. The Mexican thing I learned the hard way with the boys.
